School Concerts
Waltons New School of Music
‘Don’t play the notes. Play the meaning of the notes.’
– Pablo Casals
‘I thank you in advance for the great round of applause I am about to get.’
– Bo Diddley
There is more to music education than lessons and practice, and learning to play both with and in front of others are as important as developing your technique and musicianship. Our monthly Friday Casual Concerts, as well as our End-of-Term and End-of-Year Concerts, are excellent opportunities to develop your performance skills in a relaxed and supportive setting.
Friday Casual Concerts
The New School’s Friday Casual Concerts are a great opportunity for students of all instruments and genres to play in public, in a relaxed and supportive setting, before friends, family and other students. These brief concerts, which take place monthly on Friday evenings at 6.30 – 7.30 pm in the school, allow individual students and ensembles to perform in public, show off their skills and learn how to cope with nerves. They are also highly recommended for students preparing for exams.
Your teacher will recommend the best concert date(s) for you. Students of melody instruments or voice who require a school accompanist at a Casual Concert are asked to contribute €10 to help cover this cost.
