Waltons New School of Music
In addition private, partner and small group lessons, we are now enrolling for a wide range of group courses, workshops and ensembles taking place in our 10-week Third Term (April – June). These include:
- Instrumental and singing courses for absolute beginners
- Guitar, piano and vocal courses for intermediate students
- Theory, musicianship and songwriting courses
- A pre-instrumental (early years) music course for children aged 3-4, 4-5 and 5-6
- A music technology course
- A Leaving Cert. Music revision course and workshop
- Several instrumental and vocal ensembles
Group Courses for Beginners
The New School offers a range of 10-week Introducing group courses that provide foundation tuition for absolute beginners. Each term’s Introducing courses start from scratch. Continuation ‘Improvers’ courses can generally be scheduled in the following term for students who have completed them.
- Introducing 5-String Banjo

Theory • Musicianship • Songwriting Courses
The development of a complete musician requires far more than simply learning to play an instrument or sing, and tuition in musicianship and theory is recommended for all students. We also offer an acclaimed Songwriting Workshop that has guided a number of budding and experienced songwriters in developing their craft.

Designed for children aged 3-4, 4-5 and 5-6, the New School’s 10-week Move Your Feet & Sing to the Beat classes explore basic musical concepts through a variety of fun and engaging activities.

Introducing Music Technology is an inexpensive, practical, hands-on 10-week course designed to teach absolute beginners how a PC and inexpensive home studio technology can be used to record and produce virtually anything at home.

Ensembles
New School ensemble and choir members, under the direction of dedicated and experienced teachers/coaches, enjoy the unique pleasures of group music-making through weekly rehearsals and regular performances of a varied repertoire. We aim not only to make some great music, rehearsed to public performance standard, but to have a lot of fun in doing so!
