We offer both in-school and online lessons and courses and workshops in our Summer Term. In-school tuition take place in the New School itself, conveniently located in Dublin city centre. (See our Location page for details.) And online lessons and courses take place where you are, which can be anywhere in Ireland or around the world. (See our Online Tuition Programme page for more information.)

Lessons
We offer lessons in our Summer Term for students of all ages and skill levels, and in most of the instruments and subjects we offer during the regular school year. (See our Summer Programme web page for a complete list.)
30-minute, 45-minute and 60-minute private (one-to-one) lessons are available. Partner lessons and small group lessons, designed for students at the same level of proficiency who enrol together, are available as 30- 45- or 60-minute partner lessons, 45- or 60-minute small group lessons for 3 students and 60-minute small group lessons for 4 students. Online partner and small group lessons are possible both for students in the same location and for students in different locations.

Group Courses
for Beginners
Taught by music educators with a wealth of experience, our Summer Introducing Courses have provided foundation tuition in a range of instruments, as well as singing, to thousands of absolute beginners over the years. Each term’s courses start from scratch and assume no previous experience. We offer six of these popular instrumental and vocal courses in July and six in August.
Course Discounts
Students taking more than one Summer Term group course, either concurrently or in another part of the 2023 Summer Term, receive a 10% discount off the second group course. The discount applies both to courses taken concurrently (in the same part of the term) or in two different parts of the term.

Summer Music for Me Courses (ages 3-6)
Our Summer Music for Me courses allow children to explore basic musical concepts through a variety of fun and engaging activities. Children can enter the courses after taking one or more of our First-Third Term Music for Me courses, but the summer courses also provide a great introduction to music for children without any previous musical experience.

Summer Songwriting Workshop
Whether you are new to songwriting and would like to take your music beyond the shower, or you have already written songs but would like to have a better grounding in the basics, this summer version of our Songwriting Workshop, taught by an acclaimed songwriter/teacher, will help you to develop your creative ideas – in any music genre or style – and turn them into finished songs. An online workshop, it can be taken by participants living anywhere in Ireland or around the world.

Intensive Lessons
Single in-school or online Intensive Lessons, for all skill levels, can be arranged for almost any instrument (including voice/singing) and subject taught by the New School.
Intensive lessons are ideal for:
- Students who would like to schedule their lessons flexibly or who cannot be accommodated on our regular timetable
- Students preparing for performances, auditions, entrance examinations, competitions or practicals
- Prospective students wishing to ‘try out’ lessons or instruments

Irish Music Tasters
Designed for absolute beginners of all ages and running since 1999, the New School’s Irish Music Tasters for individuals and groups are brief immersions in the world of Irish traditional music and have introduced hundreds of people from all over the world to its beautiful melodies and infectious rhythms.
We offer both In-School and Online versions of these acclaimed workshops, taught by Irish musicians and educators with a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of Irish traditional music. In-School Tasters take place at the New School; Online Tasters can be taken wherever you are, anywhere in the world.
