Make the World Smaller with Online Partner & Group Lessons!

Waltons New School of Music

In these extraordinary times, we’re all looking for ways to ‘connect’ with each other despite our separation. So if you have family members, friends or work colleagues whom you aren’t able to see in person, why don’t you enjoy the experience of learning a musical instrument together with Waltons New School of Music‘s online partner and small group lessons?

Online Partner Lessons (for two people) are available for virtually every instrument taught at the school. And Online Small Group Lessons (for three or four people) are available for Bodhrán, Guitar, Irish Fiddle, Piano, Tin Whistle, Ukulele, Violin and Voice/Singing. Taught by engaging, expert teachers, they’re a wonderful way to learn and make music together – or apart.

Online partner and small group lessons are suitable for all ages and skill levels.

Who Can Take Them?

Families

Why not learn a new instrument together as a family? Families living in one house can learn and practice together. And family members living in different counties – or even countries – can share the experience of learning a musical instrument together.

Friends

In times like these, when we are separated from our friends, online partner and small group lessons are a great social outlet, as well as a way to connect with each other, learn something new and share a worthwhile experience.

Work Colleagues

With so many people working from home these days, online partner and small group lessons can bring people together to share a meaningful experience beyond the confines of work.

Some Comments by Students
about Our Online Tuition

‘The online piano lessons [my son] has been taking with Waltons have been just fantastic. Having grown up with more traditional piano lessons myself, I was amazed at how well his teacher was able to observe and respond to his playing. Zoom is so easy to use, and [my son] not only looks forward to the lessons but actually wants to practice between them! Highly recommended.’
– S. Behan

‘I honestly didn’t think I would get so much out of online singing lessons, but my teacher’s just brilliant and I have learned loads. I live much too far from Dublin to come to the school on a regular basis, so online tuition has been a great experience for me.’
– S. Boyle

‘My online singing lessons with the New School over the past few months have been a revelation! I know it can take people a bit of time to get used to online learning, but I have an excellent teacher who explained everything so clearly and listened to my singing so intently that I honestly prefer online lessons to in-person now. And the best part of it is that I have no commute!’
– P. Browne

‘My son is really enjoying his piano lessons with the New School and is progressing by leaps and bounds. When I first signed him up for lessons, none of the in-school time school time slots was available, so I started him with online lessons, thinking of it as stop-gap until in-school times became available. But the online lessons are going so well that I’ll definitely stick with these. The added advantage is that there’s no need to ferry him to the school and back!’
– P. Cassidy

‘I started taking online guitar lessons with Waltons during the lockdown in May, and I have to say it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. In fact, I found online lessons so effective and convenient that I’m continuing with them this year as well. I have an excellent teacher who really cares about his students’ progress, and I’m hugely enjoying the experience of learning guitar.’
– F. Cooney

‘Marieclaire is a great [violin] teacher. I was hesitant at first to sign my daughter up for online lessons, as I could not picture how music lessons might be held online. However, the lessons are fantastic! The teacher notices even small things and has done an excellent job in teaching and motivating to improve.’
– S. Domarkas

‘I took an online singing Intensive Lesson with my sister, and not only was it very enjoyable but we learned so much about how singing ‘works’. Thanks for a great experience!’
– P. Grady

‘Barbara is a wonderful [piano] teacher! I was also very impressed with how quickly the school adapted to online lessons and was so happy that Barbara was able to continue to give our daughter lessons. Very impressive!’
– B. Gormley

‘It doesn’t make sense that Waltons can teach a woman in her fifties how to play the violin in her North Leitrim kitchen [online], but my teacher David Burns is doing just that – and exceedingly well.’
– A. Hayes

‘I have wanted to do a music technology course for years but the opportunity didn’t come up until I saw that Waltons were offering an online version of their Introducing Music Technology course. Signing up was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and I thoroughly enjoyed the course. My zero experience in recording music was no problem because it is tailored for beginners, and looking back on how much I learned in such a short space of time is incredible! The teacher is very friendly, helpful, and explains things in a clear and concise way. I would highly recommend this course to anyone with an interest in the subject!’
– A. Hickey

‘I’ve really enjoyed my online lessons. I had tried learning banjo with YouTube videos but found the whole experience frustrating and difficult. Now I have progressed faster with just a few lessons (so far) with a great teacher than I had when trying to learn myself for over a year!’
– S. James

‘Daniel is a great piano teacher. He is dedicated and very patient, particularly with younger students like my 6-year-old daughter. We’re thrilled with her progress, and she loves the piano lessons. I also like the availability of online lessons at home for younger children. I would highly recommend anyone, beginner or advanced, to take lessons with Waltons New School of Music.’
– S. Jovetic

‘Luke Howard was the best part of the [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults] course. He was energetic and enthusiastic about the everything. This made the course more exciting since it was online.’
– S. Kalva

‘With online tuition, place becomes irrelevant. As someone who lives away from Dublin, I was delighted that I could participate in singing lessons, which would normally be inaccessible to me, and the experience was wonderful. I like the style adopted by my teacher, Melanie O’Reilly, and felt it perfectly suited me.’
– M. Murphy

‘Attending the summer online guitar class for adults was one of the best and most rewarding learning experiences of my life. I would never have expected that at my age (48) I could still learn the first steps in guitar playing in such a short time. A journey to explore a side of myself that was hidden for a long time has just started, and I am delighted. A lot of hard work is in front of me, but I will definitely continue. Highly recommended for adults with a flare for music, better late than never….’
– C. Papadeli

‘Harry is just great. In a few tin whistle lessons (all online and taken from Dublin, Amsterdam, Rome and Poland!), he taught me the basics of the Irish tin whistle, with a little effort from my side. His key capability is being able to transfer knowledge in an enjoyable manner.’
– I. Savi

‘Very clear instructions, helpful and patient teacher. Really enjoyed my online lessons on Zoom, avoiding all the fuss with transport in and out. Perfect for a busy life. [guitar student]’
– S. Targetti

‘I’ve been taking online trad flute lessons with Waltons for the past few months, and I’ve been very impressed both by the quality of my online tuition and by the kindness and expertise of my teacher. Not only is he a wonderful player and educator, but he’s also a fount of knowledge both about trad flute and about Irish music in in general. I’d highly recommend lessons here.’
– S. Ward

‘Really enjoying learning bodhrán with such a great teacher. I just wish I’d discovered these online lessons sooner!’
– S. Whelan
