FEEDBACK

My daughter had no previous knowledge of the cello, and we took a big gamble investing in an instrument and lessons. Little did we know that in a short period of time her tutor Enrien would help build her confidence and take time to explain how to play the instrument, from holding the bow to understanding how to read music with ease. We are so impressed with Enrien. Not only he is super professional and shows so much dedication in each lesson, but his teaching has instilled in my daughter such love for the instrument that she wouldn’t miss a lesson! Thank you very much. We are so delighted and would highly recommend the school and its tutors.

Relaxed but progressive atmosphere. Excellent tuition. Professional teacher. [Introducing Singing for Adults]

I’ve been so impressed by the standard of teaching here, both in the school and online, as well as by the professional but welcoming atmosphere of the school. I have studied at a couple of other music schools, and Waltons is by far the best. I would recommend this school to anyone interested in music. Whatever your age or ability, you can’t go wrong with Waltons New School of Music.

What I liked best about the course was the fast progress we made, the great atmosphere of the class and Rebecca’s amazing teaching and passion for music. [Introducing Irish Fiddle]

I was trying to play guitar for a year, but YouTube didn’t help. With this course [Introducing Guitar for Adults], now I can play and understand what’s going on.

I’ve been taking Intensive Lessons in blues guitar on and off for the past couple of years. They’re a great solution for someone who can’t commit to weekly lessons. Also, I have a fantastic teacher who gives me plenty of material to work on between my lessons.

My [guitar] teacher is engaging and has broad and deep musical and technical knowledge that has improved my playing considerably.

The teacher does a brilliant job with the [Musical Explorations (Ages 5-6)] course. Each child is listened to and well looked after, whether the classes are in the school or online. My son loves the course and has learned lots of new things. He looks forward to every Saturday.

I loved the class [Musical Theatre Workshop]. The teacher is brilliant, and I feel much more confident about my singing and acting. Also the class is great fun.

I really appreciate the energy that Rebecca brings to her [Introducing Irish Fiddle] classes, which are always really enjoyable. Also, for an intro level course, we have really progressed quickly. She is always providing us with personal feedback despite it being a group class, which I greatly appreciate.

The class [Making Music (Ages 3-4)] has been very beneficial for our child, who went from being extremely shy at the start to fully participating and enjoying the class each week. It has been the perfect balance of learning and fun.

Dav, my teacher, has been so helpful in helping me to understand my voice. Learning to sing well is a process, but I see good results already. A very big thank you that the school is here and that you’ve given me an opportunity to learn with a professional and to satisfy my desire to sing.

Great classes [Introducing World Drumming] and even better teacher – very knowledgeable and gives attention to everyone in the group.

My teacher is a gem. A kind person with a deep understanding of music, who knows how to teach it. [voice student]

My son loves the [Introducing Guitar for Children] course and looks forward to each week’s class. He really enjoys practicing his pieces and songs and playing them for family members. Thank you for offering such a great course!

Excellent teacher! [Making Music (Ages 3-4)]

To be honest, I was surprised at how much my daughter enjoyed this course [Introducing Violin for Children] and actually wanted to practise! I look forward to seeing her continued progress with the violin.

I’m writing about the wonderful Tin Whistle Taster my family recently had at the New School. I can’t recommend the experience highly enough. Two adults and two children were kept entertained and engaged, and we learned so much not only about tin whistle playing but about Irish music in general in a short space of time. Éamonn is clearly not only a great musician but also a gifted, natural teacher – someone who can connect with people of all ages. We’ll definitely be back for a Bodhrán Taster the next time we visit Ireland! [Irish Music Tasters]

Colin made the technology very accessible, and he has an easy, pleasant teaching manner. [Introducing Music Technology]

My violin teacher is both inspiring and down-to-earth, and I feel motivated to improve with every lesson. I started with lessons in the school and am now taking them online and really enjoying the experience. With no commute, I have more time to practice!

The Musical Theatre Workshop is just great! You can improve your vocal and dramatic skills and learn how to sing your favourite songs properly, and at the same time it gives you the confidence to perform them in front of an audience.

Excellent teacher. Excellent tuition. Friendly and encouraging. The Introducing Violin for Adults course content was perfectly pitched for a violin beginner. I enjoyed it immensely.

I wish I had discovered this years ago. By the end of my first [voice] lesson I had learned techniques that I had spent years trying to master.

A fantastic introduction to the piano. We aren’t a musical family, and I really wanted to give my daughter the opportunity to learn an instrument that I didn’t have as a child. I’m so glad I did, as she’s hugely enjoying this course and has learned so much. [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Children]

The online piano lessons [my son] has been taking with Waltons have been just fantastic. Having grown up with more traditional piano lessons myself, I was amazed at how well his teacher was able to observe and respond to his playing. Zoom is so easy to use, and [my son] not only looks forward to the lessons but actually wants to practice between them! Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed my [Irish Music Taster], and it was a great experience for me. Waltons New School of Music is a very good place to learn Irish traditional music, especially for foreign students like me.

I would highly recommend this class [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults] – it far exceeded my expectations. And I’m so pleased that I decided to learn piano. It’s been such fun.

Every week at my [guitar] lessons is a new and positive experience. I appreciate my teacher’s expertise greatly and feel lucky for the opportunity to continue learning from him. Waltons New School of Music is very professional and has a friendly, welcoming environment.

I really enjoyed Cathy’s humour and patient manner. [Sing Your Heart Out Choir]

My [piano] teacher very quickly discovers a student’s best way of learning and uses that to the student’s advantage. She is also very approachable.

My son is on his second term of piano lessons and he absolutely adores it, loves the teacher, and I have to say I can’t speak highly enough of all staff too.

My son is learning the piano and learning how to read music. In the last year and a half, he has gone from strength to strength and is currently on Grade 3. I would recommend Waltons New School of Music to any parent for their children and also to anyone who fancies the idea of learning an instrument. 10/10

Personally I felt that, being older, I may have been left behind, but small [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults] classes give plenty of one-on-one time with the tutor.

I think Sarah is an excellent piano teacher with a wealth of knowledge about music. She assesses my performance and sets expectations for me every week based on how fast or slow I am progressing. Her lessons are extremely well structured with a rightful emphasis to perfect the basics, and it’s really inspiring to learn from her.

A fantastic course and a gifted, caring teacher. My daughter really enjoyed learning piano with other children, and the teacher was so encouraging that no child felt left behind. This course and approach is worlds away from the way I learned piano, and I’m so happy that my daughter wants to continue! [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Children]

The [Introducing Tin Whistle] classes are the highlight of my week. I tried other instruments but always gave up, never found one that I could enjoy as much as I do the tin whistle. So much of it is thanks to Harry, who is a brilliant, expert teacher, finding the perfect pace to develop and always encouraging the group

Every time I leave my piano lesson at Waltons I’m buzzing. I feel super motivated to be better the following week. I skip down George’s Street listening to my favourite pianists on the headphones and dream that one day I can play like them.

Nice small group, excellent interaction in the Zoom classes. I’ve learned a lot over the 5 weeks. [Summer Guitar for Adults]

Dav is a very talented [voice] teacher who is especially skilled in dealing with adult students.

Our [Introducing Irish Fiddle] teacher was really supportive and enthusiastic from the start, and her love for music was contagious! I really enjoyed learning from her and I will definitely continue taking lessons from Waltons.

Really great notes and has made my understanding of melody and harmony writing much better. [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course]

Melanie’s Sing & Swing Jazz Vocal Ensemble inspires confidence even in the most hesitant singer. I learned lots about the jazz/swing era and its music at this class – and all in a relaxed atmosphere. Very enjoyable.

My [Irish Music Taster] was inspiring and a great way to learn about Irish music.

I was delighted that my concert flute teacher set very good challenges for me and that my online lessons were so enjoyable.

I have an excellent piano teacher – she is very patient, friendly and encouraging at all times. She also has the brilliant ability to break down the more complex aspects of a piece into simpler parts, which makes it easier to understand and learn them. She has a great technical knowledge of the piano and music theory as well.

Waltons have really made learning an instrument as an adult accessible and fun. I never would have thought I could progress as smoothly in something like violin without starting at a young age!

Great tuition! Have been taking trad flute lessons here for the last year and my instructor has brought me on by leaps and bounds. The Friday Trad Slow Sessions are an excellent way to learn new tunes.

Great place to learn music.

I honestly didn’t think I would get so much out of online singing lessons, but my teacher’s just brilliant and I have learned loads. I live much too far from Dublin to come to the school on a regular basis, so online tuition has been a great experience for me.

This course [Songwriting Workshop] gave me great confidence in songwriting, and to have the guidance of a professional songwriter was so helpful. The course helped me both lyrically and musically to realise my songwriting potential, and I am now constantly writing new material.

The instructor is extremely knowledgeable but also patient and approachable. Highly recommended. [Music Fundamentals]

Excellent quality tuition in a relaxing and fun learning environment.

I thought Dan, our teacher, was great, very patient with beginners while keeping us moving on to the next step. [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults student]

It’s a really enjoyable workshop [Leaving Cert. Music Pre-Exam Revision Workshop] and very beneficial. The notes are excellent and very useful.

Hugh is an excellent [drum kit] teacher, very good and well organised in terms of technique, as well as flexible, helpful, very encouraging and kind to [my son].

[My voice teacher’s] teaching style is a perfect match for my learning style, with a focus on technique and exercises but still time for singing. I also love her encouragement and energy.

The tuition was excellent. I learned a lot in a positive and pleasant way. [Introducing Irish Fiddle]

A great course [Acoustic Blues Guitar Basics] – lots of information and great fun.

Really enjoyed this online course [Introducing Guitar for Adults]. It was an hour escape every week, and I loved the group dynamic!

My son has made great progress with the saxophone while studying here. While he has worked hard himself, much of this is down to the teacher, who has been both patient and motivating.

I think this is still one of Dublin’s best kept secrets. This school is great.

A great way to revise Leaving Cert. Music. I would recommend it to everyone! [Leaving Cert. Music Pre-Exam Revision Workshop]

A great music course for kids. [My daughter] has grown in confidence because of it and can’t wait to play the songs she’s learned for her friends. [Introducing Ukulele for Children]

My online singing lessons with the New School over the past few months have been a revelation! I know it can take people a bit of time to get used to online learning, but I have an excellent teacher who explained everything so clearly and listened to my singing so intently that I honestly prefer online lessons to in-person now. And the best part of it is that I have no commute!

Best place to learn music in Dublin.

Very professional and friendly school with excellent teachers. I really enjoyed studying here.

Really super lessons, both in person and online. Studying voice musical theatre with Sinéad Flynn has been such an enriching experience. She has a lovely manner, very encouraging and still critical and pushing me to improve. I have learnt so much in the past 18 months, and the lessons have done wonders for my confidence. I’m even taking exams in my forties!

Excellent [violin] teacher with great insight into what I needed. The school has nice friendly atmosphere and high-quality lessons.

I am a resident of the U.S. and was delighted to have found online guitar lessons with Waltons New School of Music. For an absolute beginner like myself, Colin was the ideal teacher, so patient and encouraging, allowing me to build confidence with every lesson. I could not have been happier with the experience. I am just so glad Waltons has made online music learning available. What a great use of technology to be able to connect with talented musicians and instructors from around the world!

A very nice introduction to the basics of singing. You learn how to sing great songs step-by-step, without having to be able to read music. [Introducing Singing for Adults]

The teacher was very easy to understand and was willing to answer any questions. [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course]

I liked the relaxed atmosphere and encouragement. Really enjoyed and looked forward to attending each week. [Introducing Bodhrán]

Paddy is an excellent, adaptable [banjo] teacher who helped me to achieve my goals.

Fantastic course! [Introducing Guitar for Teens] John is such a great guitar player and teacher, and he really inspired me to learn guitar. I can play a few songs now, and I’m definitely going to continue learning.

I would absolutely recommend the Music Fundamentals course to anyone who is interested in beginning on the road to understanding written music.

I really enjoyed this course [Introducing Irish Fiddle]. In such a short space of time I feel I have learned loads, and I look forward to improving.

I’ve always wanted to play drums, but I didn’t know where to begin. I saw that Waltons offers one-off Intensive Lessons, took the plunge and haven’t looked back! The teacher was so helpful and encouraging that I decided to enrol for regular drum kit lessons and buy an electronic kit. I’m hugely enjoying the experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed the [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults] course. Never having done any musical training, I can hardly believe all I have learned.

Great introduction to playing in an ensemble! [Jazz Ensemble I]

I would highly recommend this course [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults] as a great first step to learning piano/keyboard.

The teacher’s easy manner gave me the courage to have a go even if I wasn’t getting things right. By my own reckoning I have made huge progress since I began the [Sight Singing Made Easy] course.

I had a wonderful time during my singing lessons. It really gave me the confidence I needed and I achieved something I never thought I would.

Sinéad Flynn is a fantastic [voice] teacher. Her vast knowledge of the musical theatre repertoire helps you choose pieces that suit your voice and helps you to make the most of your potential as a singer.

[A]n excellent instructor who has time for each student. This ensures that whatever issues the student has are ultimately dealt with successfully. [Trad Guitar Basics]

My Intensive Lesson was really helpful. Made daunting things seem a lot simpler. [guitar student]

My banjo teacher is both patient and encouraging, and the lessons are very informative. I’m very happy with my online lessons and plan to continue.

I’ve really enjoyed my online lessons with an excellent teacher, who is patient, explains everything very clearly, and provides great notes and audio accompaniments. [5-string banjo student]

My daughter attended Waltons for the introductory guitar course [Introducing Guitar for Children] and has continued with an improvers course for almost two years. She really enjoys it. Her teacher is great – very calm, encouraging and patient, and he doesn’t talk down to them. Every week I see progress and her personal pride in playing a little more accurately and fluidly each time. The atmosphere in the building from all staff is one of professionalism, kindness and welcome.

I wish I had discovered the New School’s Intensive Lessons sooner! I have a great singing teacher, and I have a lesson with her whenever I can, but I was out of the country far too much to have regular weekly lessons. When the first lockdown happened, I started taking online intensives, which worked very well. So when I do start travelling again I plan to take online intensives when I’m away.

The group classes are a great way for mature beginners to take the plunge in learning a new instrument. Good value for money too. [Introducing and Improvers Irish Fiddle student]

A great teacher who offers excellent tuition catered around each individual student’s needs. One of the best. [Introducing Irish Fiddle]

A very accessible beginner’s guitar course [Introducing Guitar for Adults]. The teacher was excellent, with great enthusiasm and expertise. I’ve taken two courses so far (Guitar and Bodhrán) and both have been excellent.

Excellent teaching, and easy learning techniques. [Introducing Tin Whistle]

The [The Art & Craft of Songwriting] workshop really helped break my writer’s block!

Great fun, amazing teacher, loved every class! [Introducing Ukulele for Adults]

The course [Sight Singing Made Easy] is challenging [and] great fun. The teacher is very helpful without being patronising, and the material progresses quickly.

Excellent course. Eoin makes what some would consider a dry subject both interesting and engaging. And being able to read music has opened up a whole new world for me! [Music Fundamentals]

My son is really enjoying his piano lessons with the New School and is progressing by leaps and bounds. When I first signed him up for lessons, none of the in-school time school time slots was available, so I started him with online lessons, thinking of it as stop-gap until in-school times became available. But the online lessons are going so well that I’ll definitely stick with these. The added advantage is that there’s no need to ferry him to the school and back!

I have been learning flute and piano at the school for the past two years. I really enjoy coming to lessons, and the staff at the school are very friendly and approachable. My teachers are great, and their inspiration has motivated me to continue…. The school is also very accessible by any means of transport. I have recommended it to many of my friends.

An excellent experience that added to an overall enjoyable Irish holiday. [Irish Music Tasters]

[A] great teacher, very good with kids. My two children (4 and 5 years old) were in her [Musical Adventures (Ages 4-5)] class, taking their first steps in music. After only few weeks, they were soaking up music basics without even realising it, while having real fun.

Friendly admin. staff and great teachers. Very pleased overall.

I have been studying singing with Waltons for three years now, and I have found it to be such a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. My voice has really improved, and both the teaching standard and professionalism of the school are very high. My teacher Sinéad Flynn has been particularly helpful to me, and I really enjoy my lessons!

Fiddle is a tough instrument to start as a beginner, and this course [Introducing Irish Fiddle] shows that it’s actually quite manageable! The teacher is really nice and helpful and patient.

Very enjoyable course [Introducing Music Technology], with all details well explained by a knowledgeable and friendly teacher.

All together I would give the [Introducing Guitar for Teens] course out of 10 – great teacher, great staff, great facilities – Waltons has it all.

I felt my basic guitar skills improved considerably over the online improvers Guitar for Adults course. Plenty of challenging and interesting songs to work on to continue to improve. Colin was great. He clearly knows his stuff and is very easy going, approachable, encouraging and genuinely interested in making sure everyone was getting something from the classes.

Would highly recommend this course [Introducing Guitar for Adults] to anyone starting out on the guitar.

A truly excellent online course. The teacher is really engaging and not only makes the essentials of music reading (and writing) easy to understand but makes the whole learning process fun as well. I would highly recommend this course [Music Fundamentals] for anyone interested in learning to read music who doesn’t know where to start. You won’t regret it!

I decided to take the [Ableton Live Basics] course because I had Ableton Live Lite software that came bundled with some gear I’d bought, and I had no idea how to use it. The course far exceded my expectations. I’d imagined a course that would give me a couple of tips for using Ableton Live more effectively, but Colin provided us with so much more. I now realise why Ableton Live is such a popular software – and I now have a very good idea of what it can do!

I absolutely loved learning to play the harmonica. Michael McInerney’s love for the harmonica is infectious! [Introducing Harmonica]

Really enjoyable course and fantastic teacher. I was delighted that it was available online, as I live in Kerry – a bit too far to commute! [Introducing Ukulele for Adults]

[Introducing 5-String Banjo] was a great introduction to the banjo, and progression was achievable while being challenging. I highly recommend the New School of Music. It’s a great, friendly and professional place to learn a new instrument.

Taking piano lessons with Waltons has given me the skills and confidence to take my musical aspirations to an unexpected level.

This course [Music Fundamentals] is perfect for anyone with an interest in music. It starts with the very basics of theory and the information is made easy to understand. There is a good atmosphere in the class, being with people who share your passion for music.

Learning the fiddle was a really positive and worthwhile experience. The tuition was pitched perfectly for beginners, and Rebecca is an exceptional teacher. Thank you. [Introducing Irish Fiddle]

A great way to immerse yourself in a different musical world. [Jazz Piano Basics]

I have been trying to play guitar for years. After a ten-week [Introducing Guitar for Adults] course I really feel I have some chance now!

Anyone can learn the guitar. All you need is a willingness to learn and a professional teacher from Waltons New School of Music. [Introducing Guitar for Adults]

Can’t speak highly enough of my singing tutor. As a novice to singing beyond the privacy of my shower, her personal attention and interest in helping me to discover my singing voice has been invaluable.

I really enjoyed the [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course] here, as we got good notes and excellent advice. It will really help me with my exam.

Love my [Irish harp] teacher. She is great, and I’d recommend her to anyone who wants to learn the harp.

Everything needed for your exam in one place. The teacher was very good and explained everything, particularly the composition paper. [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course]

[A] a very experienced teacher who had great suggestions for improving my songwriting. I love her energy, enthusiasm and kind nature. She went above and beyond to assist the whole class to improve their work. I really enjoyed and benefited a lot from this class. [The Art & Craft of Songwriting]

The school has an open enrolment policy, so if you are motivated to study music you will be welcomed. There is no discrimination against older students. In fact, the school is very supportive of older people – either for the simple pleasure of music making or for improvement through grade exams.

I have an excellent [voice] teacher. She is very encouraging and has a lot of insight into the individual student’s problems and how to improve them.

I’ve really enjoyed my online lessons in concert flute. I live in the west, and it’s great to be able to access music tuition with such an excellent teacher.

The teachers are obviously passionate, and this coupled with their musicianship and knowledge makes the learning an enjoyable and rewarding habit.

The school has a welcoming atmosphere and a very high standard of teaching that strives to meet the student’s personalised goals. Competitions, scholarships, etc. are great opportunities for students. [voice student]

Waltons’ music lessons are world class. The teachers go out of their way to encourage their students and make the lessons more enjoyable for them.

I started taking online guitar lessons with Waltons during the lockdown in May, and I have to say it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. In fact, I found online lessons so effective and convenient that I’m continuing with them this year as well. I have an excellent teacher who really cares about his students’ progress, and I’m hugely enjoying the experience of learning guitar.

I feel much more comfortable doing music technology for the Leaving Cert. now, and the teaching was great. [Leaving Cert. Music Technology workshop]

Myself, my husband, my daughter and now my granddaughter all study or have studied here. Speaks for itself!

A fantastic tutor. Waltons should be proud to have him. [Intensive Lessons]

I like that Ana told me when I was doing it wrong and didn’t beat around the bush. She also used great metaphors to help me visualise how to sing. For example, ‘Imagine you’re trying to land your voice on that wall.’ Statements like that really help to visualise how to sing. Also, she has so much knowledge about singing. [voice student]

As a past musician who had not played an instrument for 30 years, Waltons and [my teacher] gave me back my music. For that I will always be grateful.

The wonderful teacher, very supportive and patient, made for a very enjoyable experience. There was a lovely sense of camaraderie in the group learning and playing together. [Flute Ensemble]

A good music tutor is worth their weight in notes! It’s the personal touch that makes tuition at Waltons a far superior product to other products, especially on-line tutorials. Having a tutor who specialises in your chosen instrument and has 3rd level or higher qualifications means the student receives phenomenal value for both money but more importantly, TIME. 60 minutes with a good tutor can unravel countless hours of poor self-learning and bad habits, leaving the student highly motivated to improve and develop their playing repertoire. What’s not to like! [bass student]

I am a happy member of the Sing Your Heart Out Choir, [and] I would like to assert that Cathy McEvoy is an exceptional teacher, musician and human being. We are all very privileged to benefit from her amazing talent, patience and spirit. Our Thursday evenings are truly a delight and a wonderful learning experience.

The tuition is clear and focused, but also flexible. [Intensive Lessons]

I highly recommend Waltons – excellent courses available and groups to join which are led by enthusiastic directors. With Waltons, you can’t go wrong.

A great educational experience and very friendly atmosphere. [The Art & Craft of Songwriting]

Really enjoyed it. Straightforward notes made the [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course] easier to understand. And good to get a different perspective on the course.

Very informative. Good classes and a huge aid coming up to my Leaving Cert. [Leaving Cert. Music Two-Year Course]

The teacher’s laid back and informal approach, coupled with vast experience and knowledge of music, made the [Songwriting Workshop] very enjoyable for me, and I would be happy to recommend it to others. The workshop was just what I was looking for and gave me an excellent understanding of how to approach songwriting.

Learned more in the one day than I have in school all year. [Leaving Cert. Music Pre-Exam Revision Workshop]

The [Introducing 5-String Banjo] course is professionally taught, with the targets outlined and explained at beginning of the course. And our tutor Paddy keeps the classes both interesting and varied.

Enthusiastic and motivating [clarinet] instructor and friendly staff.

I have a cracking teacher and really enjoyed the [Summer Piano/Keyboard for Adults] course. I loved the logical way he took us through the basics and gave us heaps of encouragement and praise.

The notes were fantastic, and I really enjoyed the [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course].

Great [voice] teacher. I have developed so much in the past year [and] have learned so much technique. We get through a lot in a 30-minute lesson; it’s very productive.

A great quick introduction to the beautiful culture of Irish music and song. [Irish Music Tasters]

I’ve gained so much since I’ve taken [Musical Theatre Workshop] classes here. My confidence has grown immensely, and I’ve come on as both a singer and performer. Sinéad is an amazing teacher who has pushed me out of my comfort zone and believed in me so that I can reach my full potential and be the best performer that I can possibly be.

A fabulous instructor! So knowledgeable about the tin whistle as well as the history of Ireland and its music and instruments. He also gave great recommendations of places to visit and sites to see which was very appreciated. I’m happy to have a new friend in Ireland. [Irish Music Tasters]

Waltons provide tuition that is far superior to anything else I have experienced. I feel that my daughter (who is 11) has been made to feel very comfortable with her own abilities and is challenged to improve. Most of all, she seems to enjoy music, to be getting an appreciation of it. We are not at all a musical family, but she is showing an interest which is being fostered in a very natural way. [parent of guitar student]

A perfect course [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults] for beginners. I’ve already recommended it to a friend and she’s starting next term. I highly recommend Waltons for anybody who always wanted to learn to play an instrument but never had a chance. It’s never too late, and once you start you won’t regret it!

I was delighted to hear that such a renowned music school was now offering online music tuition. I live in the west and had great difficulty finding a piano teacher near me who could teach my skill level. (I wanted to work on a performing diploma.) My piano lessons with Waltons so far have been great – everything I could have hoped for. I have a superb teacher who is both encouraging and very clear in her advice and instructions, and I’m confident that she’ll prepare me well for my diploma.

[My son] had no piano skills at all when he started, and he is getting better and better every week. Waltons and Daniel, his teacher, have helped him so much to develop his skills. I’m so glad I made the right choice in picking Waltons as his school. Thank you Waltons team. :)

Everyone is back home and more-or-less recovered from the short nights and travel, and can look back with a lot of pleasure on the fine weekend in Dublin. I would like to thank you for all your work in engaging the wonderful teachers, finding the classroom space, and having it all work out in timing and pricing. Thanks also for passing on my many requests to the teachers! I know it took quite some time, but it really helped make it the right kind of course for my pupils. I’m very grateful that the school and the teachers were willing to be flexible! I would also like to thank your colleagues…for the warm welcome, and for making us feel at home in the school.

Huge thanks too to all the teachers: John, Éamonn, Harry and Aoife. They were fabulous! The course was a great success for my students, and I would definitely be happy to work with Waltons New School of Music again. [Irish Music Tasters]

I would absolutely recommend the [Introducing 5-String Banjo] course. I joined with no banjo skills and left with being able to play a couple of songs and use the skills taught to me in the class to continue practising and learning new songs by myself.

An excellent introduction to sight singing for beginners – a lot simpler than I thought it would be! [Sight Singing Made Easy]

Great course [Songwriting Workshop]. Really enjoyed having someone walk me through a scary new thing, with great skill and experience.

Peter Dobai, my saxophone teacher, tailors my online lessons perfectly to match my needs. I am 66 and already play jazz guitar, so I have a little knowledge but need a lot of input on theory, etc. I’ve already recommended Peter as a very versatile teacher who moulds his instruction to the needs of his students.

Cathy is a fantastic and supportive instructor. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it! [Sing Your Heart Out Choir]

An excellent online course [Introducing Guitar for Adults]. I can finally feel confident in the basics and had great fun along the way!

Colin is an excellent teacher. Huge preparation and effort goes into each class [of the Introducing Guitar for Adults course], and he worked with the class to see which songs we would like to learn. We came away with party pieces to play, but also a technical understanding of the instrument, reading music, and different techniques. I have recommended Colin to so many family members and friends. Well worth doing this online course. Thanks Colin!

Great [Trad Guitar Basics] course and tuition. Keep up the good work!

An incredible player and inspiring teacher! [Introducing World Drumming]

My daughter loved learning violin at the school, and the group environment has also helped her to develop her social skills. A stimulating and enjoyable course! [Introducing Violin for Children]

Vita Galla is a very easy-going piano teacher and a pleasure to work with. Waltons are also efficient in their paperwork/admin, which means I always got the time/day I want.

I cannot thank you enough. My cello teacher always goes above and beyond in my lessons. And the office staff are knowledgeable, warm and friendly. It’s a lovely place to be a student.

Waltons New School of Music fills an important gap in music education as it is open to newcomers and amateurs, especially adults. It caters for all – from ‘hobbyists’ to top grade exams – and provides wonderful opportunities for music making. Welcoming and non-judgmental, yet pushing for individual best standards. Tá failte romhat!

The teacher’s enthusiasm and patience, and sensitivity to the varied standards of playing within the group, allows everyone to reach a satisfying standard of music making. A great opportunity to experience ensemble music making where the whole becomes greater than the parts! [Flute Ensemble]

Very enthusiastic and able teacher. Go raibh maith agat! [Trad Guitar Basics]

It’s good to do music outside your own school to experience a different setting. I would recommend [the Leaving Cert. Music Two-Year Course] as an extra subject if you love music.

I like the variety, the different instruments introduced and the visiting teachers. My son really enjoys the songs, and he loves to sing them during the week. [Musical Explorations (Ages 5-6)]

Really interesting course [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course] which covers all the Leaving Cert. Music content in a concise and interesting way, with a very enthusiastic teacher.

Excellent [voice] teacher. Excellent school. Thanks for giving me the confidence to get in touch with my real singing voice. Music is one of the greatest gifts we have been blessed with.

My daughter has a great [violin] teacher! I was hesitant at first to sign her up for online lessons, as I could not picture how music lessons might be held online. However, the lessons are fantastic! The teacher notices even small things and has done an excellent job in teaching and motivating my daughter to improve.

This course [Introducing Singing for Adults] is a great introduction and confidence builder. Before you realise it you’re singing in front of people and loving it!

[My son] really loved the [Introducing Guitar for Children] class, and the teacher was able to channel his enthusiasm and encourage it.

I had been looking for a course like this [Introducing World Drumming] and am so glad I found it. Exceeded my expectations.

My Intensive Lesson at Waltons New School of Music was a great choice for an in-depth look at advanced elements of music theory. The staff were helpful, and my tutor Eoin was super friendly, very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. I left the lesson knowing what direction to go in to learn more and how to apply theory to my compositions.

If you’re an adult it’s never too late to learn an instrument. Best adult class I’ve gone to. I will be doing another course here soon. [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults]

Very helpful in preparing for the exam. [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course]

I have been taken singing [Intensive Lessons] for the past three years. Early on, I decided not to stick to one teacher so I could benefit from different approaches, and the standard of teaching from all the teachers I’ve had has been uniformly excellent.

[My daughter] loves being in a small group of violin students, and the teacher is great with young children.

Professional, friendly and fun. Learned a lot about singing [with a] very enthusiastic and knowledgeable teacher. [Introducing Singing for Adults]

I’ve been taking online lessons, and Andrew, my guitar teacher, inspired to start playing again after 30 years. He’s a super teacher and sends me helpful notes straight after each lesson. I’ve been learning more and more difficult guitar pieces after my initial tentative lockdown attempt to restart lessons.

The [Trad Guitar Basics] course tutor is excellent and also very flexible. He knows how to bring someone up to speed if they fall behind in class. Very enjoyable as well as instructive.

Gabriele is a very professional and responsible violin teacher. The service at the school is excellent, and the reception is always very friendly.

This beginners online course was brilliant. It explained the basics in reading music and playing the piano in a simple and understandable way. I believe I have a new life skill that I really enjoy. [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults]

I’m delighted I made the decision to start learning guitar. The instructor is really helpful, and the classes are fun and enjoyable. [Introducing Guitar for Adults]

Waltons New School of Music and my excellent teacher gave me the opportunity both to learn and achieve something that I didn’t think was possible for me. Through combination of healthy challenge and empathetic guidance, I learnt and grew in ways that I didn’t think I would in such a short space of time. Thank you…. [Songwriting Workshop participant]

From my point of view the teaching at the school is top class.

I always wanted to sing but thought I didn’t have a note in my head. With the help and patience of my [voice] teacher I now believe that I can and am loving it.

An excellent introduction to playing the blues. I now really understand the form and how it works, and my playing has improved immensely. [Acoustic Blues Guitar Basics]

This workshop covers everything you need to know about the Leaving Cert. music technology option. [Leaving Cert. Music Technology workshop]

Really enjoyed the [Introducing Guitar for Adults] course, delivered online. Colin is a very good teacher, calm and relaxed but pushes us at the right times too. He engages very well with us as students and is very encouraging. I was starting from scratch, and by the end of the course I was able to play through several songs from start to finish – albeit not expertly – and that, for me, was a great result. Would highly recommend this to any adult learners looking to start playing the guitar.

Johnny Taylor is exceptional. As a former classical piano teacher to diploma level, I can safely say he is the best teacher I have come across, and I consider myself very fortunate to have done so. [jazz piano student]

I enjoyed the [Introducing Singing for Adults] course thoroughly and learned a lot. I would definitely recommend this course and Waltons New School of Music to anybody thinking of taking up singing lessons. The atmosphere is friendly and professional, I personally learned a lot and have decided to sign up for further lessons.

Very enthusiastic teacher and great breadth of genres taught. Really enjoyable – didn’t miss a class! [Introducing Singing for Adults]

Very well explained by an interested and enthusiastic teacher. [Introducing Music Technology]

The teacher really contributed to my learning development and knowledge of music. [Leaving Cert. Music Two-Year Course]

I am hugely enjoying my piano lessons and really like my teacher’s approach. I have made great progress in the last year.

John is a fantastic teacher. I have no musical talent, and I somehow came out of this 10-week course [Introducing Bodhrán] being able to play a few reels and jigs, and having really enjoyed the course.

Really happy with my drumming lessons and my learning progress.

I only started recently, and as a mature student I was a bit apprehensive about going back to music after many many years – but both Andriy, my piano teacher, and Cathy, my fiddle teacher, made me feel at ease, and from week one I have just enjoyed it! Everyone in the school is so friendly and helpful – from the people in the office giving me information on courses and taking time to help me with any queries I had, to the teachers, who are brilliant. I would definitely recommend Waltons – a very welcoming place for students of all ages. Great location. Great teachers. Great staff. A positive experience from the very start!

Sinéad Flynn is a wonderful singer and vocal teacher who teaches with much heart and passion, always pushing me to improve and to find more layers in the songs. The Friday casual concerts are very enjoyable, and everyone is so supportive of each other. When you enter Waltons, there is a lovely welcoming vibe, and the office staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. (voice student)

Great way to get started with the guitar! [I have] a very thorough and patient instructor, with good choice of content for the [Introducing Guitar for Adults] classes. I have found that my playing has improved greatly.

I learned so much about the structure of songs and the business of songwriting. [The Art & Craft of Songwriting]

My teacher Gary is professional, committed to teaching guitar in a fun environment, and he takes a personal interest in his pupils, ensuring that they make steady progress. He is a real gent.

My [Introducing Singing for Adults] teacher is brilliant at explaining, giving hands-on tips and exercises to practice. She knows how to make people feel both more comfortable and braver, and she is always positive and encouraging.

I had a fantastic time doing this course [Musical Theatre Workshop]. I wish there were more like it out there! It has encouraged me to pursue my love of musical theatre, and I hope to be back to take on some Musical Theatre performance exams next year and to receive the relevant coaching for them.

My piano teacher is super nice and patient, so kind and always encouraging – I truly like her. Very nice staff as well. It felt like home. Thanks everybody – you are all lovely!

The atmosphere of my [voice] lessons is incredibly friendly and encouraging, which has allowed my confidence and ability to grow with each lesson.

I learned more from this 10-week course [Acoustic Blues Guitar Basics] than from trying to teach myself acoustic blues for over 10 years!

Thanks for making the learning very user friendly. I found myself looking forward to coming into Waltons every week for both the learning and the laughter, both of which were always in plentiful supply!

Andriy’s [piano lessons] are excellent. He doesn’t get frustrated with my mistakes, and he helps explain how to overcome sections that are proving difficult. He is also a pleasure to work with and successfully helped me prepare for and pass my very first music exam.

Great, flexible, friendly and encouraging teacher. [Songwriting Workshop]

I really enjoyed the [Introducing Singing for Adults] course and gained confidence in my singing abilities as well as learning new techniques, and I had fun singing songs I would not normally have considered ‘suitable’ for me.

I was over 50 and wanted to learn to play the fiddle, so I signed up for my first set of classes (10). I nervously attended my first [Introducing Irish Fiddle] class in Waltons, and I needn’t have worried. The admin staff were so welcoming and light-hearted and made me feel at ease. My class teacher has a very natural way of teaching; she is so patient and encouraging and there is a relaxed atmosphere in the class. I will be starting my sixth set of sessions with Waltons at Easter.

There is a really pleasant atmosphere. The teachers are always available and proactive, as well as the people who work at reception.

I was nervous learning an instrument like the guitar for the first time as an adult, but our teacher made us all feel at ease and the pace of the [Introducing Guitar for Adults] lessons suited our learning development. I can’t wait to come back!

I recently took the Introducing Bodhrán course and I loved it! John was a great teacher and created a really fun atmosphere in the class. He has a lot of knowledge of music in general. Looking forward to continuing with the bodhrán. Very good value for money too!

Introducing Irish Fiddle was a really enjoyable course. All of the tunes I learned were broken down and made easy to learn and pick up. The teacher was extremely helpful, accommodating and approachable, and this gave me the confidence in going on to learn the fiddle.

Great school with really great teachers, who have a lovely way with children. We would definitely recommend! [mother of Introducing Violin for Children student]

Great fun. Relaxed atmosphere. Learned loads! [Introducing Singing for Adults]

This course [Introducing Violin for Adults] is great! My class has a relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere that is a pleasure to be part of, and I’ve learned loads.

Top class vocal teaching that is specifically tailored to each student.

The school is easy to get to, the teachers are great and I’ve learned a lot in just one term. [piano student]

Really enjoyable piano for beginners course. I feel like I learnt a lot in ten weeks. Aoife was great, a really patient and encouraging teacher. [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults]

I have experienced a wonderful time at Waltons so far and plan to continue my lessons. The service offered is exceptional and very professional. I would have no hesitation in recommending this school.

Really enjoyed my time at this school. Friendly, professional, with excellent teachers and lovely office staff. Highly recommended.

Sight singing is a skill that I thought was beyond me, but when it was broken down and explained well by an excellent teacher, and then practiced of course, it’s amazing how quickly it became second nature! [Sight Singing Made Easy]

Very good for audition preparation. Very flexible and helpful. [Intensive Lessons]

Overall, an excellent place for learning just about anything having to do with music. It’s conveniently located, classes are affordable, and the atmosphere is great – lots of people, of all ages, with a shared love of music.

I enrolled [for voice lessons] to improve my ability to sing in a choir. I made a lot of progress quickly with Ana, with technical advice that helped me to sing better and more confidently. The lessons, which were based on the foundation of classical technique, were very enjoyable as well, and I am looking forward to further explorations in the new term. Thanks, Ana!

My [piano] teacher was very encouraging and interested in progressing her student.

[V]ery well structured, with a patient and friendly teacher. [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults]

The [Leaving Cert. Music Pre-Exam Revision Workshop] was brilliant. The notes on melody writing and all studied pieces are really easy to understand, and this has really helped my knowledge of the Leaving Cert. Music course!

This course [Introducing Violin for Adults] has opened up new horizons for me. I never thought I could learn a musical instrument, and so far Waltons New School of Music has allowed me to dream that it is possible, no matter what age I am.

I had forgotten how much I loved guitar until I returned to Waltons School of Music. Thank you.

I found the [Introducing Bodhrán] course great, as I had never played before and was not at all familiar with the instrument. We were eased into playing comfortably.

A great introduction to the piano for children. [My daughter] loved the class and came home each week eager to demonstrate all she had learned. [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Children]

My only knowledge of music was as a subject I had taken for my Junior Cert. 50 years ago! The adult piano online beginners’ classes [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults] with Aoife were great. She is a lovely person and is very good at explaining and encouraging. This is a new hobby for me, and although I am slow to learn I really enjoy the lessons and the practice.

Excellent teacher. Excellent revision. [Leaving Cert. Music Pre-Exam Revision Workshop]

Waltons provides such a relaxed but professional environment, conducive to learning. [piano student]

It’s amazing how much we learned in a single weekend. I feel much more confident starting Leaving Cert. Music now. [Leaving Cert. Music Preliminary Course]

The Songwriting Workshop was transformative for me, taking a lifelong ambition at songwriting and – within a few weeks – transforming it into a weekly/daily practice rather than a vague aspiration. Luan Parle clearly understands the songwriting process intimately, but what is rare is her ability to convey that deep understanding to fledgling songwriters. She dived right into the process from day one, and it was very much “learning-by-doing”. This immediately alleviated my nerves and self-consciousness. She also broke down songwriting into easily digestible components (verse/bridge/chorus/middle eight) and then sent me away to try and write each ‘part’ between classes. The course was really exciting and rewarding – and it also managed to demystify songwriting and make it more realisable. Throughout, Luan’s approach was always one of positivity and optimism – searching out the best parts of my work. The course was also very good value.

Every topic covered, with plenty of tips for higher marks. Very helpful, with an exam oriented and enthusiastic teacher. [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course]

All the fundamentals were covered, which gave us the best foundations for learning how to play the violin correctly. Terrific teacher, and the atmosphere of the [Introducing Violin for Adults] classes was always great and positive. I had fun at every class. Thank you.

Whether in the school or online, my [violin] teacher is a professional with a clear focus on technique.

My violin lessons with Oleg are endlessly entertaining! He always makes the lesson fun and applicable to my abilities. What’s more, he focuses on the technical aspects of violin playing as well as the musicality; many other teachers do not.

Sinéad is amazing, and Waltons students are lucky to have her! I learned so much in such a short time, and it’s all thanks to her and her passion! [Musical Theatre Workshop]

I’m finding [Introducing Violin for Adults] very enjoyable and not at all intimidating. The teacher makes us feel at ease as we learn the violin.

Loved the way you get to express yourself…. Sinéad gets the best out of you, and it is so much fun! [Musical Theatre Workshop]

Essential for anyone interested in recording music at home. [Introducing Music Technology]

A silver lining of this pandemic was that lessons moved online, and even though I had moved to Kerry I could continue learning to sing with Sinéad Flynn. She is a fabulous teacher and a huge asset to the New School. I would highly recommend to any aspiring singers or performers to sign up for lessons with Sinéad and the New School. [voice student]

A great [guitar] teacher – patient, organised, knows when to step back and when to push, very adaptable and knowledgeable.

The tuition is reasonably priced, the teachers are good at what they do, and I’m amazed at the huge range of lessons, courses and groups offered!

Thank you very much for the very informative, exciting and interesting three days for our students at your school! They really enjoyed playing the tin whistle and bodhrán and singing traditional Irish songs. Your teachers did a really good job, and the students learned a lot in a very short time. A fascinating new experience! [Irish Music Tasters]

A great introduction…. User-friendly, with a tutor very knowledgeable about the subject. [Introducing Music Technology]

I am only sorry that I did not find out about the [Introducing 5-String Banjo] course sooner at age 61. Better late than never. Paddy is a fantastic teacher, and the course so far is a blast!

The [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course] provides a lot of useful information and broadens your knowledge of music.

My concertina teacher has great patience and teaches very well!

Great teacher, with great patience, who tries to get the best from my son at every [drum kit] lesson, while making it fun.

I’ve known Waltons New School of Music for many years, and I’ve always had very good experiences with its exceptional teaching staff and level of education.

Andrew Keeling is a great flute teacher who explains everything very clearly.

Barbara Dagg is a brilliant piano teacher – patient, adaptive to the different needs of my three children and helping them to progress at their own pace. I also really appreciate that it has been possible to continue the lessons online, as we would be unable to travel to the school in person regularly. Online tuition is fantastic!

Sinéad is a wonderful teacher. Every week she has encouraged me with her positive feedback, and I have gained a lot of confidence about my singing since starting lessons with her. I would recommend Sinéad and Waltons New School of Music to anyone who enjoys music. I also like the fact that the school accommodates both online and face-to-face tuition, and it’s both very central in town and easy to access by public transport. Finally, I have booked rooms in the school to practice my singing outside of lessons – which is an excellent facility.

I tried learning guitar on my own over the years and then didn’t pick up the guitar for two years. This class [Introducing Guitar for Adults] has been perfect for me, with encouraging, good-humoured teaching. I’m enjoying learning!

Gary is both very fun and enthusiastic, and he teaches incredibly well – knowing how to tailor his lessons to his students’ needs. I would also recommend the school because of its friendly admin staff, who always reply quickly, and its great location. [electric guitar student]

I highly recommend Waltons New School of Music. I come from a conservatory background, and the level of tuition is as good. My concert flute teacher Andrew Keeling is very professional and passionate about music and teaching. He brought me to another level with very advanced pieces, while adapting to my learning rhythm and providing the best advice.

The very positive approach by the teacher was so encouraging! [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults]

Given the restrictions in place due to COVID-19, online teaching has provided me with a great opportunity to continue my guitar lessons, with my teacher’s guidance and patience, building on what I have learned.

I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the singing/voice classes [Summer Singing for Adults] I have taken with Fiadh Rua Gregg: the mix of exercises, technical knowledge and skills, learning new songs, and the experience of singing with other people. I also enjoyed listening to and learning from other people in the group. I have learned so much about my voice, and I really value this learning – considering how much I use my voice in my work.
The whole experience has been deeply enriching. I appreciated how Fiadh pitched and paced each class with a blend of tasks that provided a challenge while also offering a sense of achievement. While I attended all classes online, I felt very much part of a group, and this was due to Fiadh’s skill as a teacher, as she created such an encouraging, facilitative and supportive atmosphere. I had wanted to take singing/voice classes for years, and I’m so glad I did!

I have a very understanding and helpful voice teacher who’s great at getting me to pronounce some tricky Italian words! I also really like the convenience of online lessons with no need to travel.

Well explained, well organised, comprehensive and interesting course. [Leaving Cert. Music Two-Year Course]

I highly recommend Waltons New School of Music for those who want to challenge themselves in life. [voice student]

Great tuition. In-house concerts and scholarships are great opportunities for young players.

Sinéad really is a fabulous voice teacher, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the lessons I’ve had both in a group and a 1-2-1 environment.

So-Young is a great teacher who really personalises her jazz piano lessons to cater to each student – what they want to learn, their strengths & weaknesses, etc. Lessons were very fun and had a good mix of comping and soloing. The school as whole has a great location, wonderful staff, high quality lessons and in-school resources.

A very positive experience and great teaching. [Introducing World Drumming]

Even though I am an older person, I felt totally included in all the classes and would encourage anyone who wishes to learn to play an instrument to give it a try. [Introducing Guitar for Adults]

John was very passionate about music and made me love playing the guitar. [Introducing Guitar for Adults]

Marta is an amazing [voice] teacher. I studied singing [in Dublin] and Paris when I was younger, and the standard of teaching from Marta is much higher than anything I received in the past. More, she brings the techniques that she learnt about in master classes from world-renowned singers such as Barbara Bonney. Marta is encouraging and positive, vocally and emotionally; I feel uplifted when I finish my lesson. It is such a blessing to have her as my teacher. I strongly recommend her.

Barbara is a wonderful [piano] teacher! I was also very impressed with how quickly the school adapted to online lessons and was so happy that Barbara was able to continue to give our daughter lessons. Very impressive!

I took an online singing Intensive Lesson with my sister, and not only was it very enjoyable but we learned so much about how singing ‘works’. Thanks for a great experience!

I’m really happy with Waltons. [bodhrán student]

I thoroughly enjoyed the Songwriting Workshop and learned so much from it. I would definitely recommend the course to anyone wanting to learn or improve their songwriting abilities. I have a greater understanding of song structure and collaboration now, which has helped me move forward in songwriting. Also, the fact that it was online was beneficial, as I wouldn’t have been able to do it in person.

Engaging, funny teacher who covered the course well. A very beneficial, enjoyable course [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course]. Well done!

A solid introduction to jazz and improvised music-making. The teacher is not only a great jazz musician but a supportive and inspiring educator. [Jazz Piano Basics]

The great thing about Waltons is that the school runs to suit the student – for me that was so beneficial and a huge change. A great place to learn.

Great teachers, great place for an adult to learn to sing. As a result of time in the New School I was able to join first the Rathmines Folk Group, then the Sandymount Gospel Choir and then the Donnybrook Church Choir. I have also taken three exams with the Royal Irish Academy of Music, with Honours in my last exam. I am at present preparing for a Grade 6 exam. None of this would have happened were it not for Waltons New School of Music. [voice student]

I really enjoyed my [violin] lessons. I had a teacher who really understood how adults learn, and she gave me great confidence.

Paddy made every [Introducing 5-String Banjo] class an interesting one. He is a superb teacher.

Sinéad is the best voice teacher I’ve ever had. She makes every single lesson fun, interesting, and useful. And many thanks for the online tuition option. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to take lessons anymore, since I am now based in Germany. Finally, every single interaction I’ve had with the school, be it online or in person, has always been very pleasant and helpful.

My [drum kit] teacher made it very easy to learn the drums, as he broke each skill down into its elements. Also, the drum kit here is fantastic.

The teachers were extremely talented, engaging and knowledgeable. I loved the demonstrations of various instruments (especially the pipes). [Irish Music Tasters]

[My daughter’s] piano teacher is great, and the lessons were a transformational experience for her. Waltons New School of Music is a very good choice for children to start their music journey.

My son’s piano lessons are great, and the school staff are always friendly and helpful.

I had an excellent piano teacher for my Intensive Lesson – very clear, organised, friendly and patient! Doing a lesson with him was a pleasure, and I plan to continue my piano/keyboard studies here. I highly recommend the school for its excellent teachers, very helpful administrative staff, user friendly website and convenient and accessible location!

The relaxed way of teaching makes you feel at home on the [Songwriting Workshop] course and gives you the confidence to perform in front of your fellow classmates. I can’t believe I stood up in front of a room full of people and performed my own songs! It was an amazing experience.

Paddy is an excellent teacher. He is very easy to understand and explains things thoroughly. I enjoyed the [Introducing 5-String Banjo] course and learned so much that I will be booking ahead for the next 3 terms.

John is a great teacher who found many ways to describe the techniques required. This resourcefulness was so helpful to our understanding. [Introducing Bodhrán]

I have an excellent [classical guitar] teacher, and I admire his musicality, his talent, his wide-ranging taste and his skills. He is an excellent judge of the right pace for progression and diversification of repertoire, and he’s generous with his many practical and very helpful suggestions on technique and the best use of practice sessions. I have enjoyed my lessons with him enormously, and I feel I’ve made huge progress since I started with him. The atmosphere of my lessons is relaxed yet focused on the music. It has worked really well for me.

The [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course] was very helpful, and we covered the whole course in a short space of time. It was great for jogging my memory and furthering my knowledge on the subject.

The [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course] gave me a much greater insight into the pieces / set works.

Thank you Waltons New School of Music for providing a course I had been looking around for and for delivering on its promises. Superb tutor! [Introducing Music Technology]

Everyone should take Introducing 5-String Banjo. It’s my new favourite thing to do, and it’s really fun to learn at the same time.

It doesn’t make sense that Waltons can teach a woman in her fifties how to play the violin in her North Leitrim kitchen [online], but my teacher David Burns is doing just that – and exceedingly well.

Very interesting. Great to understand how music works. [Leaving Cert. Music Two-Year Course]

The teacher…is lovely, very caring, a natural educator. [Musical Explorations (Ages 5-6)]

I was very satisfied with the quality of teaching, the time management, the professional school facilities such as rooms and the environment of many instruments being taught under one roof.

My singing teacher is very motivational and passionate about music. I found the lessons at Waltons a valuable learning experience and great fun at the same time. Highly recommended.

I asked Waltons New School of Music if they could help through their Music at Work programme with a corporate meeting using bodhráns to demonstrate the power of rhythm in a business context. The process was a real pleasure, and everyone I dealt with was knowledgeable and helpful. The session itself was facilitated by Éamonn Galldubh. Ahead of time, Éamonn quickly understood what we wanted to achieve and worked collaboratively on ideas to make the session a success. On the day he quickly established both his credibility and a rapport with the audience. He was a fantastic teacher, had just the right balance of humour, understood perfectly the messages we wanted to incorporate and worked seamlessly with the team without any rehearsal.

The session was a resounding success and exceeded my expectations; our team not only got the messages but had so much fun to boot. Waltons handled all the logistics, and I would recommend them to anyone considering a similar event. A first class service. [Irish Music Tasters]

I’d highly recommend taking harp lessons here. I had been thinking about taking lessons for years and am very glad I finally did so. It has been an absolute delight.

Thank you for offering your wonderful tuition online, thus opening up the opportunity of learning with a top class [voice] tutor at a distance from Dublin.

Excellent teacher and class environment in which to (re)learn singing! [Introducing Singing for Adults]

No pressure, lots of fun, easy and welcoming. [Irish Music Tasters]

My teacher, David Burns, was very friendly and helpful, and the violin lessons were engaging and a lot of fun. David did a great job figuring out what level I was during the first two lessons and then motivated me to improve even more.

I have wanted to do a music technology course for years but the opportunity didn’t come up until I saw that Waltons were offering an online version of their Introducing Music Technology course. Signing up was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and I thoroughly enjoyed the course. My zero experience in recording music was no problem because it is tailored for beginners, and looking back on how much I learned in such a short space of time is incredible! The teacher is very friendly, helpful, and explains things in a clear and concise way. I would highly recommend this course to anyone with an interest in the subject!

Super [guitar] teacher who really listens.

Great quick, precise revision for the exam in June, focusing on problematic areas. [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course]

Very well taught! Notes are easy to understand, and it definitely boosts your confidence towards the exam. [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course]

I’m back home from Dublin. It was a most pleasant stay, but the high point of it was my bodhrán lesson. I have this personality disorder that manifests itself in collecting instruments and trying to learn them, mostly on my own. Being able to take even just one lesson with a real expert (and a most able teacher), is invaluable. Hope I’ll be back soon! [Irish Music Tasters]

If you are looking to start the wonderful journey of music or just to improve your skills and meet like-minded people, this place would be an excellent choice! All of the staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and I can’t wait for my next lesson every week. It will make you better musician without any stress attached.

I absolutely love the Friday Trad Slow Sessions. Would love to see more of them! [mandolin student]

Truly amazed at how far I have gone in such a short period. At Christmas I couldn’t even hold a fiddle, but I was playing tunes by St. Patrick’s Day! [Introducing Irish Fiddle]

John is a master of many styles of guitar playing – Irish traditional, flamenco, jazz, rock, you name it – and his enthusiasm for all kinds of music is infectious. This series of classes [Trad Guitar Basics] was very informative and fun to attend, and it gave me the basis for practice and improvement over the coming months. I enjoyed them greatly.

Really enjoyed the Songwriting Workshop! In this difficult time when we can’t go places, music is the best remedy. The teacher delivered very hands-on classes that got me writing a few songs within a few weeks! Thank you. 😀

Excellent teacher. I had so much fun learning to play guitar in a fun and relaxed environment. I will definitely come back. [Introducing Guitar for Teens]

I thoroughly enjoyed The Art & Craft of Songwriting workshop with Melanie O’Reilly. I found the content very interesting and informative, and I’m continuously putting it into practice in my writing. Melanie is a brilliant teacher, enjoyable and fun to listen to. She has so much knowledge and experience, and the course has helped me to get a grasp on how to go about writing a song with a structure. It was also a lovely way of meeting people with similar interests, and we still keep in touch. I would highly recommend the course.

My [piano] teacher is so enthusiastic, encouraging and knowledgeable.

I had piano lessons with Lenka and voice lessons with Fiadh here. Lenka was always very energetic and positively engaging. We had a lot of fun, but I also managed to complete Grades 3 and 4 under her supervision. I only worked with Fiadh through the Summer Term, but I feel we achieved a lot in that time frame, and it was exactly what I wanted. Her methodical approach, attention and professionalism are admirable. The staff at Waltons are all very nice and helpful, and the building with its wooden floors, narrow staircases and creative atmosphere quite charming itself. Highly recommend.

The [Introducing Guitar for Adults] tutor is excellent, patient and easy to understand. He makes the class very enjoyable. I also really like the friendly atmosphere in the school. All of the staff are very helpful and professional.

l am really enjoying my flute lessons with Waltons New School of Music. As a student who has never take any music lessons before, l have learned a lot here and really enjoyed it. My teacher is professional, very patient and always encourages me. He even encouraged me to participate in the school’s Most Promising Beginner scholarship competition, even though I had been learning the flute for only 2 ½ months – and I won Third Prize! I see myself making a lot of progress here. The school administrators are very nice too. I highly recommend this school.

The [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course] was very helpful and easy to understand. All aspects were explained and covered in a simple and efficient way.

The [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course] was very well structured, and we covered a lot of material in a short time. We also received excellent notes.

Great intro course. Great teacher, staff and location. Great experience! [Introducing 5-String Banjo]

I loved our bodhrán lesson with Éamonn – patient, witty, amicable and an expert musician – especially when he taught me a rhythm and then he accompanied me on his flute. Great fun! Would absolutely recommend this top notch experience! [Irish Music Tasters]

I think the singing lessons here are brilliant. I only joined a year ago and have seen massive improvements in my vocal range. The lessons are really professional, and I have benefited hugely from them. Thank you!

Melanie is a very talented teacher, and her [Sing & Swing Jazz Vocal Ensemble] classes are a joy. She has a natural flair for communicating her extensive knowledge of jazz and swing music with infectious enthusiasm and fun. There was a lovely dynamic in our group, and we all learned to sing great songs with impressive rhythm and harmony.

Great atmosphere, and the [Introducing World Drumming] classes were taught clearly and with enthusiasm. Brian is a great teacher, very patient and professional.

I’ve really enjoyed my online lessons. I had tried learning banjo with YouTube videos but found the whole experience frustrating and difficult. Now I have progressed faster with just a few lessons (so far) with a great teacher than I had when trying to learn myself for over a year!

I’m into my 4th year of [guitar] tuition and have progressed way beyond my expectations – which I thought were ambitious. The environment in the school is serious in terms learning and progression, yet hugely developmental and enjoyable. My tutor is the consummate professional. He has a teaching style that is easy to engage with and breeds confidence and encouragement – all delivered with a subtle but effective eye towards delivery beyond expectations. I’ve never not looked forward to a class. That says it all for me!

This has been a most enjoyable and fulfilling learning experience. My [guitar] teacher is a classy, professional but very much down-to-earth guy. He puts you at ease and is hugely encouraging and supportive. On my first visit I was a little tentative on arrival. His style is to engage and listen, and I immediately felt comfortable and assured. Since then I’ve genuinely enjoyed every minute of these sessions. Don’t think I can say that about too many experiences of anything I’ve been involved with over the years!

I started to play cello in my senior years, and my in-school lessons with Enrien have been invaluable. He has given me a great introduction to the basics of cello playing. The school staff have always been helpful, and the school’s city centre location has been great.

Excellent tuition. Very enjoyable and makes difficult learning very easy. Highly recommended. [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults]

Daniel is a great piano teacher. He is dedicated and very patient, particularly with younger students like my 6-year-old daughter. We’re thrilled with her progress, and she loves the piano lessons. I also like the availability of online lessons at home for younger children. I would highly recommend anyone, beginner or advanced, to take lessons with Waltons New School of Music.

Waltons New School of Music is extremely well organised and professional. The teachers are excellent, and the facilities are extremely good.

The [Introducing Violin for Adults] course gave me a great introduction to a difficult instrument in a friendly, fun environment. It was challenging but thoroughly enjoyable, which I think should be credited to the patience and helpfulness of the teacher.

Its burren of high ceiling rooms supports volumes of happiness.

A great course [Introducing Singing for Adults] for everybody who loves singing! It will help you understand the basics of singing technique, boost your confidence and allow you to meet fantastic people. Highly recommended!

I’m very grateful to my flute teacher for his patience while I was taking my time to play some high notes properly! In my 2nd year at Waltons, I am able to enjoy playing my favourite tunes!

Luke Howard was the best part of the [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults] course. He was energetic and enthusiastic about the everything. This made the course more exciting since it was online.

I have been attending Waltons New School of Music for the past year, and it’s safe to say that I have run out of superlatives when it comes to the place. My own personal experience has been truly amazing from day one.
Firstly, you meet the people in the office, who couldn’t be more welcoming, helpful, and patiently informant. They do what I believe is a tough job very, very well.
I am learning traditional guitar with John Sweeney, and I’d like to take this opportunity to tell anyone thinking about joining up or getting started that this man has a gift, and I have to thank him on a regular basis for not keeping this wonderful gift to himself. He is unbelievably patient, is superbly knowledgeable about music and is just so down to earth and makes the lesson so enjoyable. You can see from him that he clearly loves his job, as he gets the same joy that the student does when things start to come together.
I also attend the Trad Slow Sessions on Friday evenings, and these too are excellent.
I would highly recommend Waltons New School of Music to anyone that is interested in taking up an instrument as I feel that you’re in good hands, you’re getting value for your money (they even have a discount for parking your car in Dury Street Carpark) and you will ultimately come out of there a far better musician than when you went in.

If you are thinking of taking up an instrument or maybe dusting off that old instrument you played years ago, if you are an aspiring musician or singer of any level (or your child is), then Waltons New School of Music is the place for you. You will receive the most professional level of tuition I believe possible. I’d recommend booking a term with Waltons and you won’t regret it. It’s also value for money.

Introducing 5-String Banjo was an excellent starter course. Our tutor Paddy was very patient and paced the lessons very well.

I had always been fond of the piano but had no training, theoretical or practical. The [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults] course I took introduced me to both, and with what I learned I’ve have been able to continue my tuition independently. Aoife was a lovely teacher, patient and thorough, and she made the course very enjoyable, user friendly and easy to understand. I’m happy to say I still use the tools she provided in my practice today. A great online course, and good value as well!

A great introduction to guitar and will be something I’ll continue into the future. [Introducing Guitar for Teens]

Taking piano lessons with Waltons New School of Music has been such a positive experience for me. In a short space of time I cannot believe how much I have learned. My teacher has been so positive and encouraging and patient. It’s my wellbeing space! [online student]

I regret not coming here years ago. I would be a much better guitarist had I done so. Don’t even think twice about it, just go and get lessons, don’t regret it like me. I would highly recommend Waltons. [Acoustic Blues Guitar Basics student]

Sinéad is an excellent teacher. She has improved my singing beyond recognition and has done so with passion, ensuring that I could expand my range and learn the techniques of good singing. Sinéad ensures that my Intensive Lessons are enjoyable and fun, but she also makes sure you do your homework! It has been an extremely positive experience for me.

The passion and ability of the individual teacher makes a huge difference both to the learning outcome and to the enjoyment of the lessons. Sinéad has the ability to make these happen. [voice student]

I really enjoyed the [Musical Theatre Workshop] course and gained a lot of confidence from it. For anyone who likes to sing and has an interest in musicals, it’s an ideal opportunity to explore your abilities, and it’s great fun as well.

Melanie’s Sing & Swing Vocal Jazz Ensemble is a weekend highlight! During these online ‘Zoom’ times, Melanie has kept it fun and focused with individual tuition, blended with jazz history and a wide repertoire of songs.

John is a great guitar teacher. He helped me understand the instrument / fret board a lot more and helped me to correct bad habits.

This course [Introducing Bodhrán] was brilliant. I can now play Riverdance on the bodhrán! John was such an inspiring teacher, and his passion was infectious. I would highly recommend Waltons. Thank you.

I’m taking singing lessons, and I really like my teacher’s approach of going with the ‘natural’ voice. I also like that the school is inclusive of ‘mature’ students. And finally, as I’m not able to travel into town for lessons, online lessons give me the opportunity to continue.
Overall, this a very welcoming school, accepting of beginners of all ages without compromising high musical standards and the pursuit of excellence.

Resuming piano grades 7 and 8 in my 40s was fantastic. Two years of prep, and in year three I did both exams – with Merit and Honours! I can’t stop telling younger people…to just go for it! I’m now 50 and aiming higher!

A fresh, interesting approach. Lots of very useful styles, chords, etc. [Trad Guitar Basics]

I liked the personal approach, ensuring you enjoy the subject. You also get to meet other students, and it’s a side comfort to know they are travelling the same, sometimes difficult, road as you. Friendships can be formed too. [Music Fundamentals]

I finished four songs and found my melodic voice, which I thought was impossible as I don’t play an instrument. I’d like to do a more advanced class! [Songwriting Workshop]

I’ve been enjoying my piano lessons very much and have learned so much over the past few months since I started to learn the piano. Luke is a brilliant teacher, is very good at explaining new concepts so that I can understand them as a beginner, is super patient and encouraging and makes the lessons fun and challenging.

A lot of fun and a great stress release. [Sing Your Heart Out Choir]

Michael has an encyclopaedic knowledge of harmonica and the blues. He gives great encouragement to his students whilst showing great patience. [Introducing Harmonica]

Creativity at its best! [Songwriting Workshop]

Each [Introducing Guitar for Adults] class brings me closer to a possible dream realised.

This course [Musical Theatre Workshop] is excellent for developing both acting and singing skills in fun, relaxed and creative atmosphere. Sinéad is dedicated, enthusiastic and open to letting the class develop their performance. I hope to take the course again next year, as it has given me the confidence to perform and audition for my local musical society.

I have the best [guitar] teacher in the world!

The teachers here are the best I’ve ever come across. I have been in the school for seven years, and it has never let me down.

Aoife laid out the [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults] course content very well and made it so easy to understand. I have already recommended the course to other people and will definitely be back to continue with one on one lessons with her.

I took part in the online Ukulele for Adults course, followed by partner lessons, during the summer. The classes were excellent, and I learned much more than I could have hoped for in such a short space of time. I thoroughly enjoyed the classes and would have no hesitation in recommending the course.

Sinéad was brilliant. She brought out the best in me, and I am much more confident now about my voice. I loved everything about the [Musical Theatre Workshop] course. Fun, laughter, confidence building.

The guitar teachers at Waltons School of Music are brilliant. I would recommend them to anyone. Shame the term is over.

If you are looking to learn a new instrument, or how to sing, I couldn’t recommend Waltons New School of Music enough. It’s centrally located so is easy to get to, and the teachers are experts in their fields. The classes are taught in a relaxed environment, and they will no doubt leave you confident and competent in your chosen discipline. [Introducing Singing for Adults student]

Paddy Kiernan is a charismatic musician and a great teacher. His greatest asset is his continuously positive and enthusiastic approach to teaching, which derives from his deep love for music. He has encouraged me to work methodically to improve myself as a musician, while also helping me to understand my potential. I’m very lucky to have a teacher like him.
The school has a warm and welcoming environment with a very courteous and helpful administration and excellent teachers. [mandolin student]

I went to Waltons to improve on guitar. There’s a good vibe in the school, with very helpful staff. I took lessons with John, who was both sound and enthusiastic about teaching guitar. Got a lot out of it.

I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and our teacher’s enthusiasm and dedication to teaching us how to play. [Introducing Guitar for Adults]

My children have been taking online lessons with Barbara Dagg, who is an outstanding piano teacher with the experience and patience to inspire even the most challenging of children. She tried different techniques and ways of teaching to find something that worked well for both of my children. For my oldest, she was supportive and understanding as she went into her first pre-exam and gave her confidence. For my youngest, she tried different ways of working with her to find something that stuck. They have both progressed tremendously in the last year and enjoy playing. We have had a great experience with the school, and I have already recommended it to other families.

I tried learning on YouTube and got nowhere. Already, after the [Introducing Guitar for Adults] course, I can play a few songs. Will definitely recommend it.

[Introducing Singing for Adults] is a great singing experience. Besides learning the techniques, you gain confidence in yourself. It is also a relaxing time.

I could do this course [Musical Theatre Workshop] all year long. Sinéad pushes and pulls you to do your best. The feeling of achievement is ‘grandiose’!

Did not think learning piano could be so easy and fun! [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults]

Melanie’s Sing & Swing Jazz Vocal Ensemble is very enjoyable for anyone who likes jazz and swing. The structure of the class gives you a chance to learn and understand the basics and then work further on the songs. Highly recommended!

Relaxed and friendly atmosphere, helpful staff, great teachers.

Fantastic [Introducing Bodhrán] course – really helped me to gain confidence in playing.

Our online Tin Whistle Taster was super fun and engaging, and a great way to engage with the team. A really unique experience and such an interactive way to learn more about Ireland and traditional Irish music. Harry and Éamonn were really great teachers – patient, passionate and masters of their music!

My child benefited from individual attention from an excellent teacher in a small group. [Introducing Violin for Children]

Small class, lovely teacher, lovely students. [Introducing Ukulele for Adults]

It’s really exciting to hear the progress your own voice can make in the space of a term with guidance from your teacher, learning to relax and proper breathing. Love it! [voice student]

I have made an excellent start to playing the piano thanks to my course at Waltons. [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults]

A great introduction to singing and the different genres of music. The [Introducing Singing for Adults] course definitely made me want to pursue further vocal training.

Great school. Very good, caring teachers make learning enjoyable.

My classical guitar teacher Andrew Keeling has a huge knowledge of music and vast experience in the music industry (just Google his name and you will be impressed!). He can explain the most difficult things in a simple and comprehensible way. I was a complete beginner when I started, and I can’t believe how fast I’m learning and how much I’m enjoying the lessons and playing this instrument. I would recommend Waltons New School of Music to anyone who wants to explore the mind-blowing world of classical guitar.

I recently started learning bass guitar in the school and couldn’t be happier. David Mooney is a great teacher, and I’m really enjoying my lessons. I appreciate his vast music knowledge and experience, his flexibility and his passion for teaching and for the instrument he teaches – passion that he is really able to transfer to students. We explore many music genres and techniques in my lessons, and at the same time I’m learning improvisation, which I really love because it gives space to creativity. If you want to learn bass guitar, I would definitely recommend lessons here. The school is a guarantee for music lovers. If I only could, I’d take everything they offer!

Hugh is a great drum kit teacher, and I always enjoy the lessons. He’s very patient and always makes them interesting. Great set-up as well. Thanks for everything.

Our group is made up of students studying to become music teachers in the public schools of Denmark, and we attended your Introduction to Irish Music and Tin Whistle Taster. I must say that both of them were perfectly planned. The Introduction was delivered with humour and a smile, making a sometimes heavy subject easy to understand, and the Tin Whistle Taster was great, focusing on different methods of teaching beginners to play.

We had a great time and experience at Waltons New School of Music, and I would highly recommend that music students at our school do the same if they choose Dublin as their destination for future study trips. [Irish Music Tasters]

Experience with my [drum kit] teacher has been fantastic. He’s a great teacher with lots of patience – encouraging and really passionate.

I had a great time enjoying my passion for singing in a friendly atmosphere, and discovering new skills step by step with a very patient teacher who brings you as high as possible. An experience I advise for anyone interested in singing. [Jazz Vocal Workshop]

Got me up to speed and ready for Leaving Cert. Music – in two days! [Leaving Cert. Music Preliminary Course]

I started the [Musical Theatre Workshop] wanting to sing but not believing I could. I ended it on a high note – literally. I found my voice through the energy, enthusiasm and love of singing Sinéad shares and gives to you – to find your voice is a powerful gift to yourself.

Everybody in the [Musical Theatre Workshop] class hugely improved. Great fun!

A very enjoyable course [Introducing Singing for Adults]. The teacher was very experienced and all participants improved hugely, even shrinking violets!

I like the structured approach and empathetic teacher with the ability to identify and help areas of weakness. [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults]

An excellent teacher with so much to give. [The Art & Craft of Songwriting]

I don’t think anyone wanting to learn jazz piano could find a better teacher than Johnny Taylor.

I would recommend the [Introducing Music Technology] course to anyone who thinks learning how to use DAW software is beyond their reach. I can’t think of a better place to start. The course made it easy to understand a lot of technical terms and information with ample time to ask questions and get clarification, which is quite an achievement for an online course. Colin is an excellent, patient and hands-on teacher.

Inspiring tutor made every single [Jazz Vocal Workshop] class interesting, challenging but most of all fun and highly rewarding.

Good atmosphere, enthusiastic and supportive teacher, and small class size. This course [Trad Guitar Basics] helped me take another important step towards becoming a better guitar player.

Great foundation for a jazz beginner. The teacher has a very positive, open and encouraging approach. [Jazz Piano Basics]

Fun, challenging…with lots of good singing. The choir has improved my confidence, and I’m always in a good mood when the class is over. Cathy great! [Sing Your Heart Out Choir]

Sinéad is everything you could ask for in a teacher – supportive, good humoured and puts a huge effort into helping you improve and develop, overcoming your weak points and mastering your strengths. [Musical Theatre Workshop]

I am very happy with my voice lessons at Waltons. I have an amazing teacher, very encouraging and patient, who makes the work fun. I will be continuing my lessons here for as long as I can afford it!

The teacher had an excellent knowledge of music and inspired me! Extremely good notes…easy to apprehend. [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course]

The teacher is great at providing a fun environment for learning. [Musical Adventures (Ages 4-5)]

I was a bit nervous as a beginner with no prior experience, but after two lessons I felt very comfortable and began to feel very confident in learning the piano. Since then I’ve enjoyed every week’s lesson and feel like I’ve learned a lot. [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults]

[My] teacher knows his subject [jazz piano] and works at your level and to your agenda – theory and practical perfect. I love it.

The [Leaving Cert. Music Pre-Exam Revision Workshop] notes are excellent, and you really get a sense of what the examiners are looking for.

Michael made learning fun and very accessible (i.e. you don’t have to be ‘gifted’ to learn to play). He explains techniques well and is very positive. [Introducing Harmonica]

A very practical course and well taught in a manner that made it easy to get a sense of enjoyment and achievement out of what was being learned within a few classes. The course is potentially relevant to many people (i.e. those with some music experience but not recording). [Introducing Music Technology]

Great [voice] teacher, very friendly as well. She put a lot of effort into finding new ways to improve my singing.

Our [Introducing Violin for Adults] teacher was very friendly, calm and patient. She took everything step by step and made sure we understood. A very good teacher!

You really develop an appreciation of the Irish tradition and culture. The teacher was great. [Irish Music Tasters]

I really liked the interaction with others and with the teacher. Amazing. [Jazz Ensemble I]

Having played by ear for years, I was surprised at how easy it was, with a good teacher, to get to grips with reading music. [Music Fundamentals]

David is calm and understanding teacher who is very good at explaining and imparting his knowledge of the violin. Would definitely recommend. And it’s convenient and easy to take online lessons on my laptop from home. I have had a very good experience with the school overall – great teachers and helpful staff in the school office.

[I have] a very supportive and talented [guitar] teacher. He always goes above and beyond his role as a teacher, and I consider myself very lucky to have found someone with such a unique gift.

There is a bright future for my kids here, despite coming from a background where no one was interested in music. There is no better place than Waltons – an absolute heaven for music.

[My son’s] teacher has given him confidence and helped develop his love of guitar through his support. He always kept me updated and made suggestions that helped me support my child at home with his practice. The quality of service that is provided is really worth the money you pay.

Brilliant school and wonderful, attentive and adaptive [voice] tuition from Róisín, herself a fantastic vocalist! Loved my lessons, will be back for more, and would highly recommend the place to anyone looking to improve their abilities and confidence in music.

The teacher’s approach to teaching the tin whistle is brilliant. He started gently (which I needed) and brought everyone along. There’s also a mix of Irish music appreciation that works for me. I’d recommend this class [Introducing Tin Whistle] for anyone interested in learning to play traditional music.

The [Introducing Bodhrán] course was amazing, and I can’t believe how much I’ve learned in such a short time. We have a fantastic teacher, knowledgeable and happy to introduce us to different types and flavours of music. He was very encouraging, and all in all it was a great experience.

My son takes drum kit lessons with Zach at the New School. Zach uses a variety of teaching techniques, making the lessons both interesting and enjoyable. The school has a great location and facilities for teaching.

Dedicated and excellent choir director/tutor. [Sing Your Heart Out Choir]

If you love to sing but are not sure how to progress, give the [Introducing Singing for Adults] course a go. Hugely enjoyable and a great way to progress in a small group. It helps with wobbly nervous voices too! Highly recommended.

Great teacher with lots of good tips and helpful notes. [Leaving Cert. Music Pre-Exam Revision Workshop]

Excellent online course, great teacher, highly recommended. [Summer Music Technology Essentials]

Gabriele is such a friendly and helpful [violin] teacher. [My daughter] felt really comfortable with him as he made the lessons so enjoyable.

I always wanted to play the mandolin but never thought I could. Paddy is an excellent teacher, and his method of teaching has brought me way beyond my expectations.

Marta is an amazing voice teacher. Kind and encouraging, she has helped me to grow as a singer both in technique and in confidence. She has also helped me to complete Grades 4 through 6 of my classical singing exams, and I have received distinctions each time.

I was 60 years old this May, and I achieved a merit in Grade on 1 June 2021. Every day I look forward to improving, and I hope to achieve Grade 2 this year. My online lessons on Saturday morning are a lovely start to the weekend. I have had two piano teachers here – Luke Howard and Andriy Blyznyuk – and have learned that you can progress learning from different styles of teaching. If you have a busy working life, I recommend learning a musical instrument from the comfort of your home with Waltons New School of Music.

I found the [Introducing Guitar for Adults] course very enjoyable and very much looked forward to my hour class every week. My teacher created a very relaxed and fun learning environment and managed to include enough variation for me to have a good understanding of guitar playing. Will be continuing classes in the next term.

I thoroughly enjoyed my Intensive Lesson with Dav. I honestly thought I was incapable of singing, and she changed my mind on that!

The [Introducing Irish Fiddle] teacher was excellent, very encouraging and with endless patience.

The Leaving Cert. Music Pre-Exam Revision Workshop really helped calm the nerves coming up to the exam! I’d advise anyone feeling a bit anxious before the exam to do it.

I’ve wanted to play piano for years, and thanks to Waltons now I can! [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults]

I have a very friendly and understanding voice teacher. I learned a lot from the lessons, and she has a wealth of knowledge. She approached the lessons with ease, and I felt comfortable singing with her. I looked forward to my lessons every week and I would highly recommend her to other students who wish to pursue voice/singing lessons. I also like that there are both online and in-person tuition options. I found it difficult to find online singing lessons, and it was very beneficial for me as I do not live in the greater Dublin area and I am on the move a lot. Waltons New School of Music offers a great range of subjects and a large variety of instruments to learn. The enrolment process was straightforward, and their communication regarding enrolment and finalising lessons was very quick and efficient.

My time as a student in Waltons New School of Music over the past two years has been invaluable. My singing teacher Sinéad has opened new doors for me by teaching me how to improve my vocal techniques, and she also introduced me to the world of musical theatre. The lessons have been wonderful experiences and have encouraged me to go further on my musical journey.

I thoroughly enjoyed [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults] and can’t wait to continue and fulfil my lifelong dream of playing the piano! And I couldn’t recommend my teacher enough. He is fantastic – so clear, thorough and patient, and an excellent communicator.

As an adult student it can be quite daunting starting a new instrument, but Waltons has been extremely supportive and I felt at ease from day one. My Friday evening [tenor saxophone] class is fast becoming the highlight of the week!

[My daughter] really enjoyed [her guitar lessons], and it was a good experience with a great teacher. As a parent, I find the admin very easy to deal with.

A great course [Introducing Music Technology]. Would definitely recommend it. I learned so much…

I like the flexibility of [my daughter] doing her guitar lessons online. Also, Colin is great in that he is guided by what she wants to do rather than being prescriptive. He is very good with her and knows his instrument very well.

I’ve been attending voice lessons with Sinéad Flynn for the last five years, and I have felt my confidence grow and my technique improve thanks to the effort both myself and Sinéad put in every week! It has been great to work towards the Scholarship Competition, as well as towards grade exams, in a relaxed and supportive environment, and I’ve really enjoyed the experience.

I expected to learn some chords and a few songs, but I am also learning about music and how it is constructed. The [guitar] lessons have far exceeded my expectations.

I benefited an extraordinary amount from the [saxophone] tuition I received here. I have improved significantly due to the time I’ve had here and feel more confident in my abilities through these lessons.

Really enjoyed the [Introducing Ukulele for Adults] course and am amazed at how much I learned in ten weeks!

Great [Introducing Harmonica] teacher – enthusiastic, good-humoured and very helpful.

Fantastic [Trad Guitar Basics] teacher with stellar enthusiasm.

Sinéad is a fantastic [voice] teacher. She’s super attuned and knows how to put her students at ease, creating a space for them to take risks and explore their musicality and voice. She’s also incredibly encouraging and engages with the person in front of her in a holistic, empathic, super-experienced and grounded way. And she paces the level of challenge really well. In general, I’ve had such a positive experience in the school; all the staff are lovely and extremely helpful, balancing warmth and professionalism. A beating heart of music education in Dublin’s city centre.

A very positive and refreshing environment in which to learn. Also the opportunity to be in a class with like minded people who are doing this course because of their love of music brings a whole new element to learning. Many thanks Waltons! [Leaving Cert. Music Two-Year Course]

Clear and informative – and of course the teacher is great! [Leaving Cert. Music Two-Year Course]

My personal experience is that Waltons New School of Music has a long tradition of fostering musical talent in its students, and my tutors have continued that tradition with respect, flexibility, skill and creativity. I really enjoy working with Adam, my Irish harp teacher, and he has helped me develop my own skills and style at my own pace.

Michael McInerney, the [Introducing Harmonica] teacher, was very enthusiastic and passionate about the harmonica and teaching others. What I liked most was the detailed explanations given by the teacher and the music he assigned us to practice.

Excellent [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Children] course. [My son] looked forward to it every week and has made great progress over the past year.

Great school, great teaching, great experience.

I didn’t expect to be able to play seven tunes after only a few weeks. [Introducing Irish Fiddle] was a fantastic introductory course that covered the basics perfectly.

Paddy is an excellent banjo teacher and quite an amazing banjo player. The classes were very enjoyable and instructive. [Introducing 5-String Banjo]

I am so glad I took this amazing course [Songwriting Workshop]. It far exceeded my expectations. Luan is an excellent teacher, and writing a song with her was a great and enjoyable experience. It is such a great opportunity being offered by Waltons. I believe that there are many people who would like to write a song and just need this guidance. Brilliant course.

The [Introducing Singing for Adults] course was so much more than I expected. I learned so much and gained confidence within myself. The teacher was an inspiration!

I was surprised at my ability to progress in quite a short period of time. [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults]

For me, as an aspect of personal development, the [Introducing Singing for Adults] classes were hugely enjoyable and rewarding.

My daughter thoroughly enjoys each [guitar] lesson. In just a short space of time she has developed confidence in playing her guitar and a desire to improve and learn more. This is purely attributable to the fantastic tuition from her teacher. Thank you!

I now have a real sense of direction for what I should be practicing. [Acoustic Blues Guitar Basics]

The results [of my voice lessons] have far exceeded my expectations, and I discovered parts of my voice that I didn’t know existed. Sinéad is a wonderful teacher and a fabulous person, and our lessons have been fun as well as productive. The school itself has very helpful staff, great tuition and a lovely friendly atmosphere.

Great classes that help children to develop and appreciate music. [They] leave each week happy and want to return the following week. Everything I had hoped for. [Making Music (Ages 3-4)]

Waltons New School of Music is a great place for teachers and students to find good pairings. I think it is important for any student of music to get a wide exposure to different styles of music and teaching types. Waltons offers this depth of staff over a single teacher approach. [parent of piano student]

[My daughter] really enjoyed coming to her class. It was the highlight of her week, and we would listen to the songs she had learnt all through the week. It was great to see her grow confident amongst the other children. The teacher was great with the kids and always brought a smile to [my daughter’s] face. Thanks again for your help! [Musical Explorations (Ages 5-6)]

Having just retired from work, I decided to have a go at learning the violin. I was apprehensive about the prospect, not having any experience of playing a musical instrument. However, all my concerns were unnecessary as I found the [Introducing Violin for Adults] course relaxing and my progress of learning the instrument quicker than anticipated.

Waltons have an exceptional range of courses suitable for any music lover.

At first I was hesitant about joining an adult singing class [Introducing Singing for Adults]. Now that the class has finished I have no regrets and my Tuesday nights are noticeably empty! My technique and confidence have improved significantly and I finally know how to warm up my vocal chords. I’m looking forward to continuing my musical journey with Waltons!

The [Acoustic Blues Guitar Basics] course covered a lot of material that was really handy for us to use ourselves to practice.

I really enjoy working with my [voice] teacher – she is wonderful. I very much like the atmosphere at Waltons, as do my family. I look forward to next term and to improving my voice and technique.

I was hoping to gain some knowledge of jazz music, chords and song structures and improv. singing. I gained exactly that – while hugely enjoying my time here! [Jazz Vocal Workshop]

I really enjoyed learning step-by-step from a master of the instrument, in a relaxed atmosphere. [Introducing Tin Whistle]

I’m absolutely delighted that I signed up for the [Introducing Irish Fiddle] course, which is at the perfect level for a group of adult beginners. Rebecca is a fantastic teacher with an approachable and accessible teaching style, and she communicates so well with our group. There is a lovely rapport in the class. Overall, the New School has a great atmosphere and is a great environment for learning music. The staff and teachers are so professional and accommodating. I would definitely recommend it to a friend!

I would highly recommend the [Introducing Guitar for Adults] course to anyone who always wanted to learn the guitar, especially those who think they are ‘too late’ or are afraid of the instrument.

Gentle patience, with individual attention coupled with a welcoming smile, made this class a joy. [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults]

Great fun, great teacher, great group and a great skill learned! [Introducing Irish Fiddle]

There is an overall ‘can do’ atmosphere; very accessible and friendly; no ageism; good opening hours.

The Musical Theatre Workshop is amazing. Sinéad is very competent and dedicated. She really knows what she’s doing and I learned a lot with her.

I liked the one-to-one attention and had a more rounded understanding of music after I did the course. [Leaving Cert. Music Two-Year Course]

Great [piano] teacher, always ready to help, with incredible patience and very helpful suggestions.

I really appreciate studying [piano] at this school. The teachers are very good, and they not only teach you how to play but they also always try to find the best approach for you.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the [Introducing Guitar for Adults] course and would recommend it to anyone.

I never thought I would be able to read chords and actually play something in such a short time. [Introducing Guitar for Adults]

A very good school that I can recommend with great confidence. [piano student]

My [violin] teacher…is passionate about teaching and loves to help her students progress. I have learned so much since I started and am now a much better player.

I’ve wanted to learn piano for many years, and I’m glad I was finally bold enough to try. My teacher was not only patient but provided an atmosphere that wasn’t at all daunting or intimidating. I loved it! [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults]

Thoroughly enjoyed the course [Musical Theatre Workshop]. Sinéad is a super teacher!

The New School has a great range of teachers and courses, friendly staff and central location in the city. [piano student]

The [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course] was great for refreshing the material and clearing up any issues I had with understanding the set works.

Paul instilled in my son a great interest in playing drums. What started as an attempt to make a boy with too much free time a bit busier has turned into a full-fledged hobby for him. What I like best about the school are its great teachers and personnel, convenient location and great communication with parents and students.

Exceptional tuition. I started [with] a group course [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults] last term and continued with private lessons with the same tutor. The tutor has helped me make great progress towards my goals, and is very knowledgeable.

With a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and excellent teacher, I thoroughly enjoyed this online course. [Introducing Guitar for Adults]

I enjoyed the [Introducing Singing for Adults] course immensely and learned a lot. The teacher was excellent and I liked the whole welcoming set up in Waltons New School of Music.

I had no expectations going to my first [Introducing 5-String Banjo] class, but when it was over, I knew I was in the right place and was going to love it! Paddy is such an affable man, blessed with great patience, who made learning such a pleasure. The class was just so engrossing that the hour seemed to fly by. Prior to my tuition, I was a complete novice musically. And although I’m still very much in the embryonic stage of my musical journey, after my tuition with Paddy I feel that I’ve come such a long way already. I simply can’t stress enough how much enjoyment and knowledge I derive from my class every week.
I also love the ‘old school’ charm that the New School of Music offers – those brief interactions of curiosity and encouragement with students of other instruments, as we await our respective classes.

Very engaging and friendly teacher who uses a range of activities, including dancing, singing, call and response and instrument playing. Both of my girls have been teaching us the call and response activities at home. We will be back! [Making Music (Ages 3-4)]

A great course [Introducing Harmonica]. The teacher was very passionate about it, and I think all the students thoroughly enjoyed it. I did!

Gary is a fantastic guitar teacher. His teaching style is so relaxed and as somebody who was an absolute beginner, I cannot believe how much I have learned in such a short space of time. [Introducing Guitar for Adults]

You are never too old to start learning to play an instrument. Cannot believe how much I have learned during the past year. It has been such a rewarding and enjoyable experience. Delighted I have finally taken up playing the guitar.

Enjoyed every [voice] lesson due to the support and encouragement, energy and enthusiasm of my teacher.

Having had only ‘classical’ training in the past, I have learned so much from this class [Jazz Piano Basics]. The approach to teaching jazz is both friendly and effective.

Sinéad Flynn is the best teacher I have ever had, for any discipline. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone interested in exploring their voice as an instrument. Sinéad is an exceptional teacher, very knowledgeable and encouraging, with a wonderful disposition. Also, the school staff are great, and the location is excellent.

Excellently presented to beginner students – also to produce their own song was very rewarding. Overall they found it very valuable. [Music Technology for Teens workshop]

I have been taking [clarinet] lessons for nearly a year and have progressed greatly.

Aoife is a great piano teacher, very patient and very encouraging. The lessons are well organised, and it is very easy to enrol. I especially like that you offer online tuition. Thanks to Aoife and everyone else at the school!

Waltons New School of Music is a fantastic place to learn a new instrument; the wide variety of tuition available should provide something for all comers.

Michael’s style of teaching is very informative as he provided a history of different musical styles, which helped [us understand] what is possible on the instrument. [Introducing Harmonica] was a great introduction to the harmonica for someone who is picking it up as a hobby while also providing enough content for someone starting with the instrument seriously.

[A] passionate and talented [bass guitar] teacher…100% in tune with the student.

Went to this wonderful place for a tin whistle workshop with my friends. It was so much fun, really educational and I loved the enthusiasm of the teacher. Thank you for everything! [Irish Music Tasters]

I recently completed the 6-week online Songwriting Workshop. I was already writing lyrics and music before joining the course, but I required some better structuring techniques and to develop the general skill further. The course has given me the confidence to write better tracks and expand my style of writing. Thanks!!!

Fantastic way to spend an hour learning something new. Relaxed atmosphere. Informal but very informative. Easy to book and very friendly. [Irish Music Tasters]

The teacher explained everything clearly and efficiently [and] made the complicated works easier to grasp. [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course]

Recently, I had the pleasure of attending the Art & Craft of Songwriting workshop. I thoroughly enjoyed the course, and it completely exceeded any expectations that I had. The teacher’s experience and encouragement meant that we each left more confident in ourselves and in our abilities to create music.

As an absolute beginner, I did not expect to learn so much in such a short time. Excellent tuition, and the [Introducing Guitar for Adults] course was fun as well as rewarding. Thanks and well done!

Peter is a great clarinet teacher, who is always trying to make you think about what you are studying in new ways. As a result, my online lessons are very engaging. He has an amazing knowledge of both the history and theory of music and combines these eloquently to help you think through what you are studying. The result is that you discover new music which encourages you to practice, and you never know – maybe someday you could play this? You guys are lucky to have such a great teacher. I look forward to my lesson every week!

Excellent. I can go to the same school for both guitar and singing lessons and know that they will be the same high quality.

John Sweeney is a terrific tutor. He listens to my sons and builds up a great rapport that keeps them interested in the guitar.

Gave me everything I needed to know and a lot of fun as well. Thanks! [Leaving Cert. Music Technology workshop]

Harry is a great teacher, with a passion for Irish music that is infectious. [Introducing Tin Whistle]

I liked everything about [Jazz Ensemble II]. The relaxed atmosphere was conducive to learning. But most of all, Dave is a great teacher and his dedication shows.

With online tuition, place becomes irrelevant. As someone who lives away from Dublin, I was delighted that I could participate in singing lessons, which would normally be inaccessible to me, and the experience was wonderful. I like the style adopted by my teacher, Melanie O’Reilly, and felt it perfectly suited me.

The perfect introduction to acoustic blues playing. Highly recommended. [Acoustic Blues Guitar Basics]

An excellent music course for children [Introducing Guitar for Children]. I’m delighted at the progress [my daughter] has made – as is she!

Have been to the Jazz Vocal Workshop at Waltons as well as one-on-one singing lessons. Teachers are personable, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, so too are the admin staff. I would highly recommend the school and will be signing up again soon for more intensive singing lessons!

I loved the [Introducing Ukulele for Adults] classes. I started with zero knowledge, but within weeks I was playing along to some great songs. The teacher is an accomplished and talented musician, and his love for music comes through in his classes. He was patient, positive and encouraging at all times. Great fun, highly recommended!

[Introducing Violin for Adults] is a wonderful, fun and exciting experience. Brilliant, enthusiastic and patient teacher.

David is a truly fantastic violin teacher. He is full of enthusiasm and has great patience, keeping the lessons fun while progress is being made. I would recommend Waltons New School of Music because of its great teachers, very accessible location, and good communication from the school.

Excellent tuition. I really enjoyed getting to know different voices and different styles of singing. [Introducing Singing for Adults]

A very patient teacher. She moves the [Introducing Irish Fiddle] class at just the right pace to push you forward, but she doesn’t leave anyone behind.

Please do yourself a favour and go to this course. [Jazz Vocal Workshop]

I really enjoyed the [Introducing Irish Fiddle] course and have signed up for the continuation group. I found the delivery of lessons very effective and benefited hugely from them.

As a non-neurotypical learner, I was able to learn music technology and DAWs (I focused on Logic Pro) with a patient teacher at a pace that suited my needs, and I progressed well. I look forward to continued progress!

Very clear teaching in a relaxed environment…. A thoroughly enjoyable workshop. There were some technophobe students who left feeling like mini-DJs! [Music Technology for Teens workshop]

I would highly recommend Harry Long to anyone wanting to take up tin whistle. He is a patient and encouraging tutor. [Introducing Tin Whistle]

We chose Waltons as one of the few music schools that offers bass guitar lessons, and the school has a very welcoming culture and great teachers. [My son] is very happy with his lessons and is keen to continue.

My ukulele lessons are on Tuesday evenings, and however hard my day was, I always look forward to them and walk away with a smile. I particularly like the flexibility and patience of my teacher, as well as the relaxed atmosphere.

A wonderfully accessible way to learn music with expert teachers in a relaxed and friendly environment. Highly recommended. [Irish flute student]

I really enjoyed this course [Introducing Guitar for Teens] and learned far more than I expected to in just ten weeks!

My daughter looks forward to her [Introducing Guitar for Children] class each week. She learned so quickly how to read music. The teacher is very good with kids.

I would highly recommend the Making Music course for 3–4-year-olds. It’s a truly brilliant course, wonderfully active and engaging, and it really benefitted my son’s listening skills and enthusiasm for singing and dancing. It’s lovely that there is no need for any knowledge of music or instruments for it and that the teacher combines her knowledge of music and teaching superbly well.

I really enjoyed my time here and feel it prepared me well for the Leaving Cert. [Leaving Cert. Music Two-Year Course]

After completing my first year of Leaving Cert. Music, I feel as though I am much more knowledgeable about music as a whole, thanks to the tuition! Also, the atmosphere of the school is extremely welcoming and the staff are lovely! [Leaving Cert. Music Two-Year Course]

Great teachers. Very family friendly. Brilliant one to one teaching.

Harry is an excellent teacher who plans a really great term of music – challenging, enjoyable, interesting. He always has a great story and background history of the pieces and is always encouraging and upbeat. He teaches the whistle, but he also fosters a love of Irish music. Really enjoy the Monday classes. [Introducing Tin Whistle student]

Both my voice and piano teachers are very knowledgeable and have endless patience. Have already recommended them to family and friends.

The online [Introducing Guitar for Adults] course was very good and allowed me to take the first steps towards playing guitar. The teacher was knowledgeable, covered a good range of topics, was very clear in explaining them and taught us good songs. He was also accessible and always available to support us with any questions we had.

Colin Power is a very good acoustic guitar teacher, and I could notice real improvement as we progressed through these online sessions. I would recommend the school for its competitive prices, good schedule availability and great teachers.

Keep doing what you do. It works! [Jazz Vocal Workshop]

An excellent introduction to jazz piano and improvisation. Playing with other jazz musicians at the end was a great experience! [Jazz Piano Basics]

I can’t recommend [tin whistle] lessons with Harry enough, he is so knowledgeable about the instrument and its history, and it is great to hear him play. His teaching style works really well, and I enjoyed the challenges he set for me. He went at my pace, and I felt confident playing despite not having played the tin whistle in years. I can’t wait for the next term!

Really good layout. It [Leaving Cert. Music Pre-Exam Revision Workshop] made everything seem easier and gave me more confidence.

Great [Introducing Ukulele for Adults] teacher. Never having played an instrument before, I didn’t have high expectations for this course, but years ago I fell in love with Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s ‘Over the Rainbow’ on ukulele and wanted to play it – and believe it or not, now I can!

I had Grade 8 piano (and had been teaching for years) but thought it was high time to get a teaching diploma and ‘proper’ qualification, so I decided to take private lessons with Waltons New School of Music. My piano teacher was excellent – friendly, supportive and thorough – and after a solid year of study (and a lot of practice!) I passed the diploma exam (Associated Board) with distinction. Thank you Waltons!

A comprehensive introduction to the instrument. [Introducing Guitar for Adults]

I was nervous about taking up the piano as an adult, but I enjoyed it even more than I did when I took lessons as a child. I have a very good teacher who has given me the confidence to continue. It takes time, effort and practice but is well worth it.

A great workshop and very helpful. [Leaving Cert. Music Technology workshop]

Brilliant teacher. Really enjoyed the [Introducing Guitar for Adults] course!

Even though it’s a quick review of the course, it goes over everything and you learn some things you didn’t know before. [Leaving Cert. Music Pre-Exam Revision Workshop]

What I liked best about the [Acoustic Blues Guitar Basics] course was its interactive nature. the enthusiasm displayed by our teacher John Sweeney and the opportunity to witness a pure professional. And the encouragement and support provided by the school staff has taken the fear out of taking on a music course and added to the enjoyment and confidence to take on more.

Left the workshop feeling relaxed and prepared to take my exam! [Leaving Cert. Music Pre-Exam Revision Workshop]

Éamonn, my bodhrán teacher, is excellent at teaching music. He is calm, friendly and a really nice person. Thank you for your help!

All extremely clear and thorough. Brilliant notes. [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course]

My daughter has a wonderful violin teacher here. She certainly has the knowledge and expertise, but most importantly she knows how to work with children and motivate them to stick with it. We’ll be back.

[A]n exceptional musician and [guitar] teacher. I have really enjoyed the variety of material which he has introduced me to. Over the year we have looked at some classical pieces, some Irish music and recently we have been looking at jazz. I feel a lot more confident about my playing, and I have a far better understanding of rhythm in particular. Also, the more I play the more I enjoy listening to music. I look forward to the class each week, and I would like to thank my teacher for his patience and his very clear manner of explaining musical concepts.

Concise, easy-to-study information. I feel confident about the exam. [Leaving Cert. Music Two-Year Course]

Harry’s teaching methods are excellent, and I could see my own skills improving each week. Great atmosphere in the classroom. [Introducing Tin Whistle]

Relaxing, fun and learning lots. [Introducing Ukulele for Adults]

Excellent tutor who takes personal interest in our progress. I am learning so much, am enjoying every class and have improved significantly since I started the course. [Introducing Tin Whistle]

I recommend Waltons New School of Music without reservation to anyone who has a desire to learn a musical instrument or take a refresher course.

Cathy is a great teacher [and] exposes me to interesting music material while quite dramatically improving my fiddle playing from a technical standpoint. [Irish and bluegrass fiddle student]

Waltons is simply the best.

Any anxiety, doubts or fears I may have had as a senior citizen with an interest in Irish music and as a late-comer to the process of learning to play the guitar, were first removed on meeting your reception staff and later re-enforced by the professionalism and friendliness of my tutor John Sweeney.

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the Sing & Swing Jazz Vocal Ensemble with Melanie. She is a brilliant teacher and made the classes very enjoyable and educational. Her song choices were fantastic, and we learned to sing in some wonderful three-part harmonies. Many thanks!

My [violin] tutor is amazingly patient and always provided me with so many alternative ways to approach a difficult section within a piece I was practicing for my exam. The feedback always started with the positive! What I especially about taking online lessons was not having to factor in the travel time. And regarding the school, I was made to feel part of a community, whether calling into the office or emailing. Everyone in the office and on the faculty is so supportive.

I arrived as a violin student and finished the school term with another exam passed and a certificate to be proud of. Thank you, Waltons!

We have been here for three years now, and our kids are very happy in Waltons and with their teachers. The teaching at Waltons is a professional combination of enjoyment and tuition. As a result, both my children have been inspired by their teachers to practice their instruments. Playing guitar or drums is not a chore anymore but has become a passion for them.

I can’t speak too highly of Waltons New School of Music and of Paddy Kiernan’s tuition for the banjo. I love what I am learning and go away from each [Introducing 5-String Banjo] class more motivated to learn.

My piano lessons here have been a very enjoyable experience. I’ve been here for three years now, and a more personal and friendly school you will not find anywhere else. I can highly recommend the New School as an accessible and progressive learning environment for all levels and ages.

Studying Irish fiddle here has been a most enjoyable learning experience, with nice tunes and a great teacher. This has been an ideal opportunity to learn Irish fiddle.

Professionally organised singing classes that enable you to sing with confidence and have fun doing so! [Jazz Vocal Workshop]

Absolutely delighted with the singing lessons I’m getting from the amazing and highly talented Marta Burns during the pandemic. I thought I had lost my voice skills, but if you get the right people teaching you, you get your confidence back again. Thank you Marta and Waltons New School of Music for making me believe in myself!

The [Introducing Violin for Children] course exceeded my expectations. The teacher was kind and engaging. I was impressed that music theory was included from the first lesson so the students could begin to read the music they played. My son could see his own progress over the 10 weeks, and we look forward to continuing his tuition here.

I was delighted that I enrolled for the Introducing Tin Whistle course at Waltons. Each class was great fun, and it was great to learn new tunes each week. It was also great to be able to hear a highly talented musician perform demonstrations and pass on tips. No base level is required to enrol in the course, and it was a lovely way to enjoy winter evenings.

Clear and confident [clarinet] teacher.

I’m so glad I made the leap into learning the Irish fiddle as an adult, and the New School has been the perfect place do it. It’s a warm, welcoming and supportive place to explore your love of music. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough! Thank you to the brilliant teachers and staff!

Rebecca is such a supportive and encouraging Irish fiddle tutor. She has endless patience and instantly puts me at ease. I could not rate her highly enough – a total credit to the school.

Very clear and informative. A must for music students. A great teacher. [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course]

Reliable and enjoyable tuition for the young and not so young.

My [piano] lessons helped to ignite an interest I thought I had lost. Give it a go!

I’m a mature student with limited time to play an instrument, and Waltons have been great…. I’ve had a talented and very encouraging teacher, I’m so glad I took up violin, and I plan to continue. Thanks!

Great course [Introducing Music Technology] with software well explained, [and] no other school teaches music technology at this price.

A wonderful musical experience. [Introducing Music Technology]

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of learning and developing a new skill. This was further enhanced by the enthusiasm, motivation and continual encouragement and support of the teacher. [Introducing Guitar for Adults]

[Introducing Singing for Adults] was so enjoyable that I never noticed the time passing and was always surprised when the time was up!

I am in my mid 30s and wanted to begin learning piano. At Waltons New School of Music they have matched me with a really fantastic teacher who understands where I’m at and is working with me at a pace that challenges me and also understands my abilities. The staff in the school are always helpful and friendly, and there is a really great atmosphere in the place. It’s a great place to learn an instrument, and I highly recommend it!

Really enjoyed the [Introducing World Drumming] course and learned so much.

I liked the encouragement and guidance, the comradery with the group and the relaxed and friendly atmosphere, as well as the great teacher, very knowledgeable and experienced, with great insight into songwriting and lots of tips. [Songwriting Workshop]

What I like most about my low whistle lessons with Harry are his patience, his friendliness, his proficiency with the instrument, his knowledge of traditional Irish music and his keenness to impart that knowledge. [online student]

Thanks to all in the New School for arranging such professional tuition with such experienced staff.

The [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course] really helped to boost my music knowledge and helped me to revise over what I already know. The notes were succinct yet highlighted the most important parts. Overall, an excellent course.

I have loved working at my own pace without any pressure or set songs I must learn. My [voice] teacher is incredibly understanding and wonderful to work with. It is refreshing to be taught by someone with a real passion for their skill.

I find Dav’s [voice] lessons to be excellent and fun. My voice has improved greatly, and her relaxed style makes the lessons very enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Excellent school. Excellent teachers and staff, who really give their time in the interest of students. Studying at Waltons has re-ignited my absolute passion for music.

Excellent school, can’t recommend it highly enough. Thank you.

Our [Jazz Vocal Workshop] teacher is very knowledgeable, patient and good-humoured, and I enjoyed exploring a new area of singing with someone who is both an expert in her field and able to teach it. This is my third course at Waltons and all three have been great.

[A] very patient teacher, and I really enjoy her [Introducing Irish Fiddle] classes. She moves at a steady pace, neither too slow nor too fast, and uses a variety of teaching methods. It’s amazing to see how much we have progressed in such a short time.

The [Introducing Singing for Adults] course is a truly uplifting and fantastic experience. We have an amazing teacher who has great patience and brings humour to our classes, so that we’re always relaxed.

Really enjoyed the [Trad Guitar Basics] course and John – he is a wealth of knowledge!

I have such a great [violin] teacher. I’d recommend her to anyone.

I’ve really enjoyed my piano lessons with Dan. He is very creative, with an ‘out of the box’ approach, and with his patience made me feel comfortable from the very beginning. I am starting to feel a lot more confident and have a better musical mindset. [online student]

Attending the summer online guitar class for adults was one of the best and most rewarding learning experiences of my life. I would never have expected that at my age (48) I could still learn the first steps in guitar playing in such a short time. A journey to explore a side of myself that was hidden for a long time has just started, and I am delighted. A lot of hard work is in front of me, but I will definitely continue. Highly recommended for adults with a flare for music, better late than never…. [Summer Guitar for Adults]

After each [Trad Guitar Basics] session I left with a smile on my face because I’d learned something new. Thank you very much and see you for another course.

An established and respected institution that welcomes all at reasonable prices and occupies a prime location in the heart of the city.

I looked forward to the [Musical Theatre Workshop] class every week. It was not only therapeutic, but immensely fun and enjoyable.

Studying here was the highlight of my musical experience in Dublin. Both teachers are master musicians and exceptional music educators. Many thanks. Shalom, shalom. [Irish Music Tasters]

Participating in the Jazz Ensemble has been an absolute joy. Dave is such an encouraging and supportive teacher, and I feel that I’ve really come to grips with how jazz ‘works’.

The small class made it easier to learn and interact. Everyone could answer (or ask) questions in class. [Leaving Cert. Music Two-Year Course]

I learned way more in the last two days than in the last few months. [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course]

My singing teacher is very professional and knowledgeable and tailored my lessons to suit my needs. She is also easy to build a rapport with.

A great place to learn music, with staff who are professional and welcoming. There’s a great variety of instruments to choose from, and options for kids and adults of all levels – from style of music, in person or online, group or individual!

My daughter started learning piano without any interest, and now, after two years, she is still learning and wants to keep learning, thanks to God and the teachers in your school.

Just a great, beneficial course [Jazz Vocal Workshop]. I’m loving it!

I like the super friendly staff (both office and teachers), great location and ability to adapt individual tuition to your own pace and time commitments.

If you’re learning a string instrument and haven’t been in an ensemble like this one [String Ensemble], then all I can say is go for it! You won’t be disappointed.

Excellent school, excellent teachers, I would highly recommend. We had Dave Mooney for bass this year and he was great. Patient, kind and a great teacher.

The welcoming and friendly atmosphere and wonderful staff and teachers at Waltons make it such a special place to be a part of. I started my singing lessons with the fantastic Sinéad Flynn nine months ago and have loved every lesson since. Whether you’re a beginning a new instrument or an experienced musician, I could not recommend Waltons more!

It’s a very happy place, and you’ll benefit greatly from going there.

My voice teacher is caring, kind and hard working, and I feel I have improved so much.

Great interaction between the teacher and each individual student. Great fun too! [Introducing Guitar for Adults]

Dave is an amazing teacher – the best I’ve ever had. He is extremely patient and passionate about what he is doing, and he is really good at motivating people. [Jazz Ensemble II student]

The school approaches lessons in a practical and non-regimental way. The staff are interested in the student as a person, not just exam results.

My voice teacher has been so helpful, and patient and generous with advice regarding singing techniques and working on song choices. Regarding the school as a whole, the administration is very helpful and teachers very accommodating to students’ intentions and goals.

Very friendly atmosphere and really nice people. A great place to learn.

I’ve really enjoyed learning a new instrument and new songs, as well as the group camaraderie. The teacher is very patient! [Introducing Ukulele for Adults]

Éamonn is a great [tin whistle] teacher. He cherishes what I already am capable of and knows exactly what to teach me to make me progress every week.

A fantastic opportunity to go over the course with a lecturer who really knows his stuff. [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course]

My son has learned guitar with Gary for past two years and loves it. He has become really skilled and confident in his ability. I highly recommend Waltons, a professional and friendly music school with great results and a high standard of teaching.

Whatever your level, Waltons has the class/teacher for you!

Very helpful staff, professional courses.

I absolutely love my [voice] lessons with Sinéád. She is extremely knowledgeable and inspires me to push myself. Her teaching style really puts you at ease and I have seen a great improvement in myself in the year that I’ve been going to her. During Covid-19, I didn’t continue with online lessons, but Sinéád still kept in touch and sent me relevant links and videos for my own home practice. I can’t wait to get back to Waltons!

The best adult start-up for piano that I have come across. [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults]

The [Introducing Irish Fiddle] course was great. The 10 weeks flew by, and I can’t believe how much we learned in that time.

Very thorough and clearer than what we learned in school. Great value and great content! [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course]

My violin teacher completely accommodated my ambition to progress quickly in learning the instrument, starting from absolutely no experience.

[My son] loves his [bass guitar] lessons, especially how relaxed they are. The tuition he has received is top notch – and from a very serious musician. I would highly recommend Waltons due to the exemplary quality of its tuition and the ease of organising and reviewing lessons.

Dave Mooney is an excellent bass guitar teacher who has made [my son] the musician he is today.

I’ve really enjoyed Paddy’s [5-string banjo] lessons. I like has laidback teaching style, and I’m really pleased with the progress I’ve made over last two terms under Paddy’s tuition. Looking forward to continuing! I’ve also found online lessons to be particularly useful and productive. Travelling to Dublin for a lesson would not make sense. Very happy to recommend Waltons to anyone looking for music lessons.

The online summer courses are a great opportunity, and the teaching is of a high standard. [jazz violin student]

Great location, friendly staff…excellent [double bass] teacher and good opening hours.

My son’s [piano] teacher has a great approach and teaching skills for all levels. Would not change her in a million years. Concerts which are held in the school are fantastic preparation for stage or exams.

As a mature student with no prior musical experience, I came to these [banjo] lessons apprehensive and nervous, but Paddy’s easygoing and patient style and ability to break down and explain techniques has helped me to progress. It has been a life changing experience, and I would highly recommend this to students in any age group. [online student]

I’ve learned so much from my teacher that I wasn’t able to learn from singing lessons elsewhere.

The teacher was very enthusiastic. His love for the music shone through! [Irish Music Tasters]

Very good course and atmosphere…. [My son] loved the teacher, different instruments and other children. Interaction helped him to ‘come out of his shell’. [Musical Adventures (Ages 4-5)]

Highly enjoyable course [Introducing Bodhrán]. Would definitely recommend.

A fantastic course, high energy, wonderfully taught, with clear instruction and a great class atmosphere. I’d recommend it to anyone. [Musical Theatre Workshop]

Waltons New School of Music offers great variety in terms of instruments taught and courses offered. Every level/ability is catered for, and my teacher was very accommodating to my standard and choice of music. As someone who took up an instrument late in life, the Trad Slow Sessions are wonderful and provide a great opportunity to play in a relaxed environment with people of similar standard.

Great structure to this online course and easy to follow notes. Our teacher was excellent, and he gave everyone a chance to play, ask questions, etc. He went above and beyond in providing chords for songs we might like to learn, MP3 recordings for all classes and most of all, enthusiasm! [Introducing Guitar for Adults]

I was very self-conscious about starting piano lessons as an adult beginner, but I am enjoying them so much. My teacher is so encouraging and supportive, and everything is well organised. My Monday music lesson is the highlight of my week.

I’m writing to provide feedback on the Combined Tin Whistle and Bodhrán (and singing!) Taster provided for us by Waltons New School of Music. Quite simply, our experience was superb! Despite our late arrival given some transportation issues between Maynooth and Dublin, Harry greeted us warmly and expertly explained the historical origins and uses of each instrument. He was exceptionally patient in teaching us how to get started playing each instrument, including slowing the tempo of the first couple of songs we attempted to give each of us the chance to successfully hit the notes. (Note: I am a terrible tin whistle player, but I redeemed myself with the bodhrán and my duet with Harry singing ‘Molly Malone’.) We had a wonderful time with Harry and felt we learned about and experienced a bit of authentically Irish culture. As one of the group leaders, I would eagerly schedule this again when we return next year. Thank you so much for allowing us this experience with Waltons New School of Music. [Irish Music Tasters]

Enthusiastic teacher, great song choices, good introduction to the subject of jazz. [Jazz Vocal Workshop]

Michael McInerney has the blues running through his veins. I didn’t really expect much from the [Introducing Harmonica] course, but it’s so good I keep signing up for more terms of harmonica playing. Great fun too!

An excellent introduction to the violin. Learning together with a small group was a lot more fun for [my son], and he has progressed quickly. [Introducing Violin for Children]

The best singing teacher I have ever had – have learned so much.

Much as I’d like to take lessons every week, my work schedule doesn’t allow it, and I have found Intensive Lessons to be an ideal solution to this problem. I take an Intensive whenever I can, and my teacher gives me plenty of material to work on between lessons.

Harry is just great. In a few tin whistle lessons (all online and taken from Dublin, Amsterdam, Rome and Poland!), he taught me the basics of the Irish tin whistle, with a little effort from my side. His key capability is being able to transfer knowledge in an enjoyable manner.

My 7-year-old could not get enough of the [Introducing Violin for Children] classes. She never wanted to miss her class, where she learnt how to play the violin and made friends.

The course is a very good starting point for bodhrán learners. I would recommend the course and school to anyone learning the bodhrán. [Introducing Bodhrán]

Great introduction to Irish music and the rhythmic patterns behind it. [Irish Music Tasters]

The [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults] course is fantastic. I knew nothing about piano and keyboard, and now I am excited to continue and feel comfortable and confident in what I’ve learned thus far.

I learned so much…. The teacher was excellent with a wide knowledge of the field. [Introducing Music Technology]

Loved every minute. [Introducing World Drumming]

My son is very lucky to have found such a generous, committed and talented [double bass] tutor.

For the absolute best time in Dublin, take an Irish Music Taster. The staff is excellent and your time is well spent.

[My daughter’s] violin teacher is so kind and helpful. She really likes her lessons with him because of the relaxed atmosphere and his great attitude.

I loved the improvers group piano class. There is a good mix of content, between learning recognisable pieces and some theory included which helps make sense of it all. It’s a great way to unwind after work and enjoy learning a new skill at the same time. I would happily recommend this class to anyone who wants to keep up learning the piano after the [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults] class. Our teacher makes it easy to learn in a non-pressurised environment. Thoroughly enjoyed the class!

The Introducing Bodhrán course was great! John is an excellent teacher and he is really passionate about music. I enjoyed the classes and also discovered some Irish trad music while learning. Highly recommend it. Thanks!

Pia brought me in the world of jazz (one that I didn’t know at all) with great skills, a perfect choice of songs, and a practical approach that made me enjoy the singing and at the same time gave me the desire to learn more about the theory of this music. Highly recommended for any singer or any lover of singing! [Jazz Vocal Workshop]

Provides a very good introduction to music technology and a useful starting point for the Leaving Cert. Music Technology course. [Music Technology for Teens workshop]

I would definitely recommend the New School to my friends because of the great experience I’ve had with my daughter’s guitar lessons and the progress she has made over such a short period of time. The teachers work very well with their students, and it’s a fun learning environment.

The String Ensemble at Waltons is not only a great opportunity to apply what you’ve learned about your instrument but a lot of fun as well!

I learned loads and really feel like I have a good general knowledge of guitar. [Introducing Guitar for Teens]

I love sitting in the hall, listening to students having their lessons. The beauty of their achievements and efforts cheers me up and encourages me as I enter into the world of music.

A wonderful music school with a broad range of courses, excellent teachers and a friendly approach. I would be happy to recommend the New School to anyone. [Irish harp student]

What I most liked about my voice lessons was the teacher’s skills and open attitude towards the student as a unique individual, as well as her friendly and compassionate manner. This school really stands out for the positive and friendly attitude of all the people who work there, from the teachers to the people at reception, which creates a safe environment to learn and have some fun!

Michael is a really enthusiastic and capable teacher. I enjoyed both his humour and his teaching methods. He’s very patient and encouraging. [Introducing Harmonica]

When I started my violin lessons, it was a welcoming reintroduction which took away plenty of nerves. My teacher Gabriele Braga was very observant about many things that I had overlooked or hadn’t been told when I was a kid/teenager, not to mention being so approachable with any questions. I would highly recommend his mentorship to anyone in the same situation as me when it comes to making the decision to try learning the violin again. For an adult student, having a supportive, positive teacher is such a plus. I’ve been very lucky having Gabriele to guide me, and I hope to continue with him.

Dave is an excellent (and patient) electric bass teacher, and I always look forward to our lessons. If you’re a late starter (or restarter) like me, don’t be intimidated – give it a go!

You are never too old to play an instrument. I have only had five [Introducing Irish Fiddle] classes and can now play three tunes to my satisfaction.

I found the [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults] classes so enjoyable, and I looked forward to our group lesson every week. The teacher was excellent, with a relaxed and kind approach which helped settle any nerves. I’m so glad I decided to give it a go and will definitely continue with lessons.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my two terms of the Sing & Swing Jazz Vocal Ensemble. I feel not only that I’m part of a group of kindred spirits but also that I’m individually encouraged and supported. Additionally, a wide repertoire of songs is covered, with both personal and group favourites considered. During the COVID-19 crisis, every technological step has been taken to ensure that the term progresses well online, and for this I am very grateful. I would highly recommend this ensemble all year round!

Exceeds expectations. Didn’t think we would get so much individual time. [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults]

This is a well-designed course [Introducing Harmonica] where progress is nearly guaranteed (as long as you practice enough). Michael McInerney knows what he is talking about, and he definitely has the skills to bring you to the next level.

Very good [voice] teacher, with excellent knowledge of good technique. Keep up the good work!

I have found my singing lessons at Waltons very professional and look forward to attending every week! I would recommend Waltons to any musician.

Waltons New School of Music is a friendly, professional music school with teachers who care about their students and go above and beyond the norm. I would recommend anyone to sign up for lessons/classes here. Great job guys!

Great teacher, full of knowledge, who made the [Introducing Bodhrán] classes fun and incorporated extra teaching tools to go above and beyond.

The teacher was very friendly and professional. We were very happy with our 5-year-old son attending the [Musical Adventures (Ages 4-5)] class and look forward to him joining again in September.

Sinéad is the best voice teacher I’ve ever had. In a few months, I’ve built up so much confidence in my voice and I can really hear how I’ve improved. I get to work at my own pace and have had the chance to sing some of my favourite pieces too. If you want to work on both technique and mindset, then I highly recommend Sinéad’s tutoring.

I have really enjoyed my time with the [Sing Your Heart Out Choir] and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in choral singing.

My daughter has been taking violin lessons in the school for over a year now, and both her and my experience has been fantastic. From the quality of time her teachers have given her, to the promptness and informed interactions with the office staff, I couldn’t recommend Waltons New School of Music highly enough.

The online classes were very enjoyable. There was a lovely atmosphere, and everyone felt at ease. The teacher was excellent, always ready to help and had a lovely way of encouraging her students. And there was no pressure put on any student to be perfect. [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults]

Very clear instructions, helpful and patient teacher. Really enjoyed my online lessons on Zoom, avoiding all the fuss with transport in and out. Perfect for a busy life. [guitar student]

The school is conveniently located in the very centre of Dublin, open early to late, with dedicated music instructors. I was delighted with my lessons and found them both worthwhile and very helpful. I can recommend the school to my friends and acquaintances with great confidence.

[I have] an excellent [guitar] teacher, and I felt that every week I was being challenged with new songs, new chords and new strumming patterns that took me out of my comfort zone and made me a little more confident.

Everyone I’ve ever interacted with at the school has been great!

Sinéad created a great, welcoming and supportive musical environment. The songs we worked on varied between comfortable and challenging for me to sing, and that was a great part of the experience. [voice student]

I was surprised not only at how much [my daughter] learned in the Violin for Children course, but how much she enjoyed it! Highly recommended.

I learned so much in just two days and feel so much more confident about studying music now. I would highly recommend the [Leaving Cert. Music Preliminary Course] for anyone interested in Leaving Cert. Music who hasn’t studied music theory before.

I loved every minute of it. Had no idea that I would actually be able to play songs on the ukulele after just a few weeks! [Introducing Ukulele for Adults]

Imagine a singing course where you learn a huge amount in a short time and have fabulous fun doing it – that’s the Musical Theatre Workshop.

Take that chance – it is never too late. From the day I signed up for the [Songwriting Workshop] course to the last session the teacher and staff were so helpful and friendly. Just go for it!

Great experience – highly recommend it. Excellent teacher and notes, very well explained and easy to understand. [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course]

When I took music lessons as a child I hated the regimen of scales, etc. with no tunes. In ten weeks I can play five tunes that folks can recognise. [Introducing Irish Fiddle]

The relaxed atmosphere made the [Introducing Guitar for Adults] course really enjoyable, which made the lessons a lot easier and helped me to progress quicker than I ever expected.

Whether you are young or old, Waltons is a very pleasant environment in which to study music. [Introducing Violin for Adults student]

I came with the object of turning ideas into songs. I left with a complete song from an idea I had for years. Results! [The Art & Craft of Songwriting]

What I liked best about it [my Intensive Lesson] were my teacher’s kindness, praise and unfailing good humour. I am a much older (elderly!) pupil, and she gave me great confidence.

Melanie is very experienced teacher/songwriter, and she was very generous about sharing her knowledge. She was also very supportive and gave everyone on the course plenty of time and support with their individual creative projects. Really enjoyed the [Art & Craft of Songwriting] workshop!

Everyone was so friendly and knew what they were talking about. The lesson was tons of fun and very interesting – plus you get to beat on things! [Irish Music Tasters]

The school has always consistently delivered tuition of a very high standard.

I really enjoy attending my bass guitar lessons at Waltons. It is a very good school, and it is in a great location. My teacher Dave Mooney is brilliant and very nice. I can learn many songs and also choose the songs I like myself. Thank you!

The lesson was very good and the teacher was great, encouraging and relaxed. [Irish Music Tasters]

Very friendly and professional school, with great staff.

I started learning the drums as an adult, and my tutor, who is both very kind and professional, has made me feel very at ease and provided a great, personally tailored experience for learning quickly. The school’s location is very convenient and I feel like I’m getting everything I need from my lessons. Highly recommended.

I had no music background, but the teacher was very helpful and made it very enjoyable. I really enjoyed the [Introducing Violin for Adults] classes. Thanks!

Great, knowledgeable teacher. This beginner guitar class [Introducing Guitar for Adults] helped me go from not knowing one end of a guitar from the other to actually being able to play a song!

A great [voice] teacher…really encouraging and patient. She has really helped me to regain the confidence in singing that I thought I had lost.

Once you go in the door, it’s all about music music music…

[Introducing 5-String Banjo] was a really fun course, and you learn a lot over the span of 10 weeks! There was a great choice of music, the techniques were well explained and there was a good atmosphere in class in general.

I love Róisín, my voice teacher. She’s really friendly and thoughtful, and I enjoy studying with her so much!

The facilities are great, and there is a great atmosphere here.

The monthly Trad Slow Sessions are a great idea! I’ve been to lots of them and have really enjoyed learning new tunes with others in a relaxed environment. I particularly like the fact that the sessions are supervised by very experienced trad musicians and teachers who are so helpful and patient. I’d recommend the sessions to everyone learning to play a trad instrument.

My son loved the [Introducing Ukulele for Children] course and got so much out of it. He came home from each class eager to show us what he’d learned.

A great atmosphere to learn in. I have got to know a few other students here, and the teachers are more than helpful with any musical questions that I have and have had. With the tuition I received from Waltons, I got into college to study music at Third Level. [bass guitar & piano student]

A pleasure to spend an hour doing something different with a genuinely passionate musician and totally nice bloke. [Irish Music Tasters]

Waltons New School of Music provides fantastic online tuition that I’m able to easily fit into my week’s schedule. It’s so easy and works seamlessly, going from corporate meetings to summertime blues. And I wholeheartedly recommend Peter Dobai, my saxophone teacher.

A fantastic teacher who combines huge enthusiasm for his subject with huge knowledge (and patience!). An excellent course. [Acoustic Blues Guitar Basics]

The [Musical Theatre Workshop] course is fun filled and focused. A joy!

[Jazz Ensemble III] is both challenging and a lot of fun, and the teacher is excellent.

The Musical Theatre Workshop is just an amazing course. Sinéad is a fantastic teacher – encouraging and honest. Having done the course twice now, I find it has really helped me with my confidence in performing and also in my everyday life. Even my seniors in work have noticed the change, so thanks Sinéad!

My fiddle teacher is really helpful and encouraging. I always leave my lessons feeling more confident about my playing. Thanks!

Great course and very beneficial. If I had a friend that was interested in music production, I’d definitely let them know about this one as it has really helped me with learning the basics. [Introducing Music Technology]

Aoife, my piano teacher, is very understanding, patient and encouraging. These online lessons have been a great experience, and I should have done it years ago.

I’ve been taking online trad flute lessons with Waltons for the past few months, and I’ve been very impressed both by the quality of my online tuition and by the kindness and expertise of my teacher. Not only is he a wonderful player and educator, but he’s also a fount of knowledge both about trad flute and about Irish music in in general. I’d highly recommend lessons here.

[A] great teacher for introducing my daughter to the world of music. She learned lots and enjoyed every [Making Music (Ages 3-4)] class.

This course [Sight Singing Made Easy] is a great way to learn sight singing with an excellent teacher. I’ve sung with a few choirs over the years, but I always had to learn the music either by ear or with recordings. What a pleasure it is now to just pick up a written song or piece of music and sing it!

Excellent teaching skills, very good interpersonal skills – and also very patient! It has been a pleasure to attend [guitar] lessons with John.

I would definitely recommend anyone to take singing lessons at Waltons. My singing teacher taught me how to sing and brought up techniques to develop my voice in a way I could understand in just a few weeks of lessons. She was extremely friendly, welcoming, warm and professional all at once. She is an amazing teacher and singer, and you can tell she loves it by the way she teaches…with a lot of passion and interest.

If you are an adult and have always wanted to learn piano, this introductory group course [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Adults] is an ideal place to start.

In the two days that I’ve done this course, I feel more confident about the Leaving Cert. exam than I’ve felt in two years at school. [Leaving Cert. Music Easter Revision Course]

Really enjoying learning bodhrán with such a great teacher. I just wish I’d discovered these online lessons sooner!

The tuition is first rate…fantastic tutor, with excellent ability in both playing and teaching. [Introducing Guitar for Adults]

A very beneficial workshop [The Art & Craft of Songwriting] – kick-started my songwriting!

Very relaxed, friendly approach. Paddy encourages everyone to ask questions and is great at demonstrating. [Introducing 5-String Banjo]

Our son, eight years of age, thoroughly enjoys his [piano] lessons and he wants to practice! Thank you!

I looked forward to the class every week. We have an excellent teacher…always enthusiastic and encouraging. I’ll definitely be recommending [Introducing Violin for Adults] to other people, and I will be attending the next stage.

Excellent online beginner’s course [Introducing Irish Fiddle]. I really enjoyed the classes and would recommend the course to beginners of all ages.

Ableton Live Basics is a great course to get started with Ableton Live, and it has given me the confidence to make my own music. The course was set at just the right pace, and every class covered something new without being overwhelming. Colin’s friendly and relaxed attitude made the whole experience really enjoyable.

I am writing just to let you know how good an experience we had with the Waltons New School of Music last year. Our then six-year-old son did the piano group course [Introducing Piano/Keyboard for Children] last year, and his progress throughout the year was way beyond any expectation we had. I have recommended the school to a number of people and will continue to do so. I believe my son’s experience with the school may well have given him something that will enhance his entire life. Thanks and well done to you all.

I love everything about the Sing Your Heart Out Choir – the cameraderie, the songs, the fabulous director and the uplift I get every Thursday evening! All I can say that if you haven’t sung in a choir like this one, you don’t know what you’re missing!

I have been singing ‘au natural’ for years, but in the [Introducing Singing for Adults] class I learned about the importance of breathing correctly when singing, and also posture and other things that helped me feel that I could improve.

Well organised [piano] lessons with a fantastic, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable teacher. And the school provides lots of opportunities to learn different instruments.

Waltons is a lovely music school. The teachers are fantastic, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. My tuition (both voice and instrumental) has helped me to make lots of progress, and I can highly recommend taking lessons here. The school is located in a charming Victorian building, and the rooms are cosy and well-equipped. [piano and voice student]

Zach is an absolutely brilliant teacher. He is not only passionate about music but he is also a very talented drummer. I couldn’t ask for a better teacher as Zach goes above and beyond in every class. I hesitated to enrol for drumming lessons at the beginning, as I wasn’t sure if this would be for me. Thanks to Zach and his tremendous talent I discovered my new passion. Love every minute. 10/10

I have really enjoyed [Introducing Violin for Adults] at the school, especially the outstanding teaching skills, kindness and patience of the instructor. I have to say that choosing this course was a very good decision.

John is a great teacher, and I enjoyed every minute of my [Introducing Guitar for Adults] course and my practice at home. Your patient and experienced tutors, nice and helpful staff and wide range of classes make you the best music school in Dublin. I have recommended you to all of my friends.

Fantastic progress combined with a child friendly and fun approach. [Introducing Violin for Children]
